Under the tutelage of Kim Mulkey, the likes of Reese, Flau’jae Johnson, Last-Tear Poa, and others defeated then-coach Lisa Bluder’s Iowa Hawkeyes, led by superstar Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin at the time. LSU won by 17 points, 102-85, to take home the elusive title.

However, there was a gesture by Reese towards Clark that went viral and is talked about to this day. On the 0:53 mark of the fourth quarter of the 2023 NCAA title game, Reese looked directly at Clark and did WWE superstar John Cena’s “You can’t see me” gesture, a move that Clark had previously done to her opponents.

As Reese and coach Mulkey were celebrating their championship win, they were being interviewed on the Women’s NCAA March Madness panel. The now-Chicago Sky stalwart was asked about her gesture and the reasoning for her to stand her ground against Clark.

“Caitlin Clark is a hell of a player, for sure, but I don’t take disrespect lightly, and she disrespected Alexis (Morris) and my girls, South Carolina, they still my SEC girls too. They not gonna be disrespecting me either, so, I wanted to pick her pocket, but I had a moment at the end of the game and that was just in my bag. I was in my moment, yeah,” Reese said (via YouTube channel ‘Women Hooping’).

Reese was eventually named as the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) for the NCAA tournament that year. In the title game, she went on to tally 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and a block in 29 minutes. The Tigers finished the 2022-23 season with an overall record of 34-2 (15-1, SEC), while Reese concluded that year with averages of 23.0 points, 15.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.6 blocks per contest.

Clark had a stellar individual outing in the loss with 30 points, including eight three-pointers, two rebounds, and eight assists in 35 minutes of action.

Caitlin Clark Got Her Revenge On Angel Reese And The LSU Tigers In The 2024 NCAA Tournament

A year later, in the 2024 national tournament, Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes were able to exact revenge on Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers.

In the Elite Eight of Albany Regional 2, Clark and company eliminated LSU from the postseason with a seven-point win, 94-87. In the victory, the now-Indiana Fever star dropped 41 points, seven rebounds, 12 assists, two steals, and a block in 40 minutes.

College Sports Network has you covered with the latest news, analysis, insights, and trending stories in football, basketball, and more!

In 2023, Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers won their only national championship, both individually and in program…

[68
402,398,400,401,99
0":"post-286","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-ncaa-basketball","8":"tag-basketball","9":"tag-ncaa","10":"tag-ncaa-basketball","11":"tag-ncaabasketball","12":"tag-sports
["GET
