Several of rock\u2019s most iconic singers from the 1970s and \u201980s are teaming up to form a supergroup for one night only later this month.<\/p>\n
On November 23, retired ice skating legend, Olympian and cancer survivor Scott Hamilton will organise his annual Scott Cares fundraiser for cancer research. On the bill this year are a supergroup consisting of six singers from beloved \u201970s and \u201980s rock bands.<\/p>\n
The supergroup \u2013 who will perform together for one night \u2013 is made up of REO Speedwagon\u2019s Kevin Cronin<\/a>, Journey<\/a>\u2018s Jason Derlatka, Chicago\u2019s Jason Scheff, Kansas\u2019 John Elefante, Wally Palmar of the Romantics and Mike Reno from Loverboy \u2013 Reno\u2019s wife Catherine St Germain will also be performing.<\/p>\n Speaking to PEOPLE<\/a>, Hamilton said of the fundraiser:\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a big old rock and roll show. We\u2019re getting six lead singers or performers from six bands that were just iconic in the late seventies, eighties.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo many of these guys are my heroes,\u201d he continued. \u201cBack in the day, I would\u2019ve killed to get a backstage pass to see or meet or to be in the same proximity as these guys, and now I\u2019m producing them in my show. It\u2019s like, are you kidding me?\u201d<\/p>\n While it\u2019s unclear what they will perform together as a supergroup, Hamilton added: \u201cYou\u2019ll hear songs you\u2019ve heard a million times being performed by the artists that created the music. It\u2019s Nathan Chen skating to REO Speedwagon. It\u2019s Maxim Naumov skating to Loverboy, as well as Keegan Messing skating to Loverboy. It\u2019s Gracie Gold skating to Chicago.\u201d<\/p>\n All funds raised at the event will be donated to cancer research centers, as well as the 4th Angel foundation, which pairs newly diagnosed cancer patients with survivors to aid them on their journey.<\/p>\n In other news, Journey \u2013 now fronted by Arnel Pineda \u2013 have recently announced the beginning leg of their 2026 and 2027 farewell tour<\/a>.
