Attending your best friend’s wedding is always a special moment. But asking them to be your groomsman has got to be even more special. When SportsCenter host Gary Striewski<\/a> decided to say “I do,” he wanted his co-anchor, Randy Scott, by his side. In a hilarious and wholesome plan on November 11, the new groom decided to ask his friend and co-anchor Randy to be his groomsman through the most wholesome surprise possible, and the internet approves!<\/p>\n

On November 11, the morning episode of ESPN’s show included a breaking news segment that Randy Scott was not prepared to read. As the teleprompter rolled, Scott was stunned and amused by the news: Striewski asking his co-anchor to be his groomsman<\/a> for his wedding to his girlfriend<\/a>, Abbey Carnivale. Scott read the teleprompter that said, “A 2026 qualifying offer has been extended to SportsCenter anchor Randy Scott to be a groomsman in the Striewski-Carnivale wedding taking place in July 2026.” Scott, who immediately understood, laughed through the reading, which continued, “An internet friend since 2014, a co-worker since 2018, and a co-anchor since 2022, a true friend for what feels like much longer. Gary Striewski says it would be an honor to have Scott agree to that position. Offer is pending my final approval; it’s worth zero dollars American, but it is an open bar.”<\/p>\n

Scott immediately gave his approval, saying, “I’m in.” He promised to bring snacks to the wedding, but Striewski assured him that the wedding would be catered. The duo then turned toward the series of photos of themselves displayed on the screen behind, including pictures of them with celebrities such as Lil Wayne and Shane Gillis. Scott and Gary’s friendship is a testament to their long-standing workplace bonding. In a 2016 study authored by\u00a0Rachel L. Morrison and Helena D. Cooper-Thomas<\/a>, the researchers noted that workplace relationships evolve along a spectrum that develops close or even best-friend bonds. This shows how weathering the heavy storms of the job world can draw people closer, creating a community within some of the toughest sites of human interaction.<\/p>\n

The study also noted that gender can play a huge role in organizational relationships. Having worked together for a considerable time, co-anchoring various shows, the bromance shared by Gary and Scott isn’t much of a surprise and has continuously warmed the audience’s hearts for a long time. After the video was posted online, many online users showered hearts upon the duo’s bond. @kendar303<\/a> wrote, “I love watching this bromance. Too cute!
