Julian Cash says it is “surreal” that he and Lloyd Glasspool have become the first all-British pair to secure the year-end world number one men’s doubles ranking.<\/p>\n
Cash and Glasspool secured the accolade with victory over Germany’s Tim Putz and Kevin Krawietz at the ATP Finals in Turin – their 59th win of the year.<\/p>\n
The Wimbledon champions had lost their first group match at the season-ending event but bounced back to beat Putz and Krawietz 7-6 (11-9) 6-2.<\/p>\n
They will face Spain’s Marcel Granollers and Argentine Horacio Zeballos in their final match, with the winning pair advancing to the semi-finals.<\/p>\n
Cash and Glasspool were presented with a trophy after their victory inside Inalpi Arena.<\/p>\n
“It’s been one crazy year, that’s for sure,” Cash said.<\/p>\n
“We put an awful lot of work in during the off-season and it takes a lot of people to get to this point. <\/p>\n
“We have ticked off so many things this year and to be stood here now is surreal.”<\/p>\n
Glasspool added: “It has been an incredible year.
