\n\tFollowing an underwhelming opening for Sydney Sweeney<\/a>\u2018s latest film, Ruby Rose<\/a> blames the Christy<\/a> star for the box office<\/a> failure.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Batwoman alum, who said she was originally attached to the biopic about boxer Christy Martin, reacted to the movie\u2019s $1.3M opening<\/a> after Sweeney has come under fire in recent months for her controversial American Eagle ad<\/a>, which was accused of promoting eugenics.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe original Christy Martin script was incredible. Life changing. I was attached to play Cherry,\u201d she wrote on Threads<\/a>, referring to another role in the film. \u201cEveryone had experience with the core material. Most of us were actually gay. It\u2019s part of why I stayed in acting. Losing roles happens all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRose continued, \u201cFor her PR to talk about it flopping and saying SS did it for the \u2018people.\u2019 None of \u2018the people\u2019 want to see someone who hates them, parading around pretending to be us. You\u2019re a cretin and you ruined the film. Period. Christy deserved better.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn another post<\/a>, Rose corrected herself. \u201cF***! Cretin is an albleist term? I thought it meant creature in old English. I regret writing that and should have just said psychopath,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing its TIFF premiere in September, Christy marked Black Bear<\/a>\u2018s theatrical distribution debut with $1.3M at 2,011 theaters.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Euphoria star, who also served as a producer on the David Mich\u00f4d<\/a>-helmed film, previously said that she is \u201cso deeply proud of this movie<\/a>,\u201d despite its low opening.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThank you to everyone who saw, felt and believed and will believe in this story for years to come. If Christy gave even one woman the courage to take her first step toward safety, then we will have succeeded,\u201d she wrote in part on Instagram this week. \u201cSo yes I\u2019m proud. Why?
