Chelsea Bomb Squad captain Axel Disasi made a surprise appearance for the under-21 team last weekend, but if Sky Sports are to be believed, he could be set for an even bigger shock here momentarily: a return to the first-team!<\/p>\n

According to Sky\u2019s Kaveh Solkehol<\/a>, Disasi is \u201cset to return to training with the Chelsea first team\u201d, though it\u2019s not likely to be for too long as he\u2019s apparently \u201cstill likely to leave in January\u201d. So that\u2019s a somewhat strange sequence of events, to have him return to the fold but only with a view towards leaving anyway (training ain\u2019t the proverbial shop window!), but the whole situation is kind of strange to begin with, so yeah \u2026 might as well?<\/p>\n

As per the BBC<\/a>, these moves are part of \u201ca bid to rebuild his match fitness and put himself in the shop window\u201d, a \u201cwin-win\u201d situation for both parties and a reward for the 27-year-old\u2019s \u201cprofessionalism behind the scenes in difficult circumstances\u201d. Then again, the player himself is said to \u201cretain hope\u201d that he may yet pull on a Chelsea first-team shirt for real.<\/p>\n

Disasi was deemed surplus to requirements midway through last season, and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Aston Villa. But he failed to secure a move away over the summer, leaving him to carry the flag for the Bomb Squad alongside Raheem Sterling. Overall, he\u2019s made 61 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 5 goals.
