{"id":289133,"date":"2025-11-13T12:56:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T12:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/289133\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T12:56:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T12:56:09","slug":"k-pop-band-newjeans-set-to-resume-with-record-label-after-court-loss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/289133\/","title":{"rendered":"K-pop band NewJeans set to resume with record label after court loss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"anchor-af7320\" class=\"body-graf\">SEOUL, South Korea \u2014 All five members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/world\/k-pop-band-newjeans-announces-hiatus-legal-setback-record-label-rcna197735\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">K-pop girl group NewJeans<\/a> say they plan to return to their record label after losing a long-running legal battle to leave over what they said was mistreatment and harassment.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-41327f\" class=\"body-graf\">The band, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/asian-america\/new-jeans-billboard-award-rcna123225\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">one of the top-selling acts in the world<\/a>, announced its intention to return to the label, Ador, in separate statements on Wednesday, with Haerin and Hyein confirming their decision first, followed by the other three members, Danielle, Minji and Hanni, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-5aeaed\" class=\"body-graf\">Last year, NewJeans unilaterally announced a split from Ador, citing the agency\u2019s alleged failure to protect its members following the dismissal of Min Hee-jin, the former chief executive of Ador and the group\u2019s mentor. Ador denied the allegations.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-f9e275\" class=\"body-graf\">Last month, a South Korean court rejected NewJeans\u2019 argument, ruling that its exclusive contract with Ador remains valid as Min being CEO is not necessarily part of Ador\u2019s contractual obligations.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-94864a\" class=\"body-graf\">Ador, which is based in Seoul, confirmed the return of Haerin and Hyein and said it was checking on the return of the other three members.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-91249d\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cAdor is committed to providing its full support to Haerin and Hyein to ensure the seamless continuation of their artistic endeavors,\u201d the label said in a statement. \u201cWe request the warm support from the fans and respectfully urge you to avoid engaging in unfounded speculation regarding the members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-6ba1eb\" class=\"body-graf\">Shortly after Ador\u2019s announcement, the remaining three members, Danielle, Minji and Hanni, said they were also returning to the label after \u201cprudent consultations,\u201d Yonhap reported.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-1a90f2\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cOne member is currently in Antarctica, and thus our stance was delivered late,\u201d they said in a statement. \u201cAs Ador is currently not responding, we are notifying it individually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-61e32a\" class=\"body-graf\">In March, NewJeans announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/world\/k-pop-band-newjeans-announces-hiatus-legal-setback-record-label-rcna197735\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">pause on all independent activities<\/a> under its new name \u201cNJZ\u201d during a concert in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/world\/hong-kong\/hong-kong-cancels-passports-bans-financial-support-overseas-activists-rcna222824\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hong Kong<\/a>, to the surprise of global fans and supporters. The announcement came after a ruling by a Seoul court in favor of Ador, which had filed an injunction against the group\u2019s independent activities.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-94db4a\" class=\"body-graf\">The group said it did not regret the choice to break from Ador \u201cat all\u201d and that they had to \u201cspeak up to protect the values\u201d they believe in. <\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-c3faf9\" class=\"body-graf\">After the court ruling in late October that upheld NewJeans\u2019 exclusive contract with Ador, the members said they planned to appeal \u201cimmediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-c9a995\" class=\"body-graf\">\u201cIt is impossible to return to Ador and continue normal entertainment activities under the current circumstances, where trust between the parties has completely broken down,\u201d the group said.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-06d566\" class=\"body-graf\">NewJeans, which debuted in 2022, is known for songs combining pop and R&amp;B music.
