The Patriots are halfway to their eighth straight win, and an emerging young star has carried them there. TreVeyon Henderson has two touchdown runs to stake New England to a 14-7 lead over the Jets. Drake Maye has more than held up his end of the bargain, too, going 14 for 16 for 140 yards.<\/p>\n
After scoring just one touchdown in his first nine NFL games, Henderson has four touchdowns in his last six quarters.<\/p>\n
The Jets got off to a solid start, taking the opening kickoff and embarking on a 14-play, 72-yard drive that took over eight minutes. It was the Jets’ first opening-possession touchdown this season and their first opening-drive touchdown at New England since 2012. The drive featured 11 runs, including a Justin Fields 4-yarder to find the end zone.<\/p>\n
The Patriots came back with a similarly methodical — though much more balanced — drive: 13 plays and 69 yards over 7:40. Henderson powered in from 7 yards out.<\/p>\n
Then New England began to take control. The Patriots forced a three-and-out and went on another lengthy drive, culminating in Henderson again scoring from 7 yards out.<\/p>\n
After their opening-drive touchdown, the Jets went three-and-out on three straight drives, but New England couldn’t take full advantage. Just before the half, Andy Borregales missed a 45-yard field goal, leaving the lead at a single possession.<\/p>\n
