{"id":290488,"date":"2025-11-14T05:08:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T05:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/290488\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T05:08:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T05:08:09","slug":"last-chance-us-coach-john-beam-shot-at-oaklands-laney-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/290488\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Last Chance U&#8217;s Coach John Beam Shot At Oakland&#8217;s Laney College"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tJohn Beam, the Laney College athletic director featured on <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/netflix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Netflix<\/a>\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/last-chance-u\/\" id=\"auto-tag_last-chance-u\" data-tag=\"last-chance-u\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Last Chance U<\/a>, was shot on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs of Thursday evening, a manhunt was underway for the man who shot Beam near the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/oakland\/\" id=\"auto-tag_oakland\" data-tag=\"oakland\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oakland<\/a>, California community college\u2019s football field, hospitalizing Beam in critical condition and sending the school into lockdown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOakland PD\u2019s Assistant Chief James Beere said a search was underway for a man of unknown ethnicity, wore all dark clothing and a black hoodie, according to a press conference shared by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/WNT\/video\/sources-football-coach-featured-netflixs-chance-shot-laney-127506776\">ABC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tLocal affiliate <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/abc7news.com\/post\/laney-college-oakland-lockdown-reports-shooting-police-say\/18152172\/\">ABC7<\/a> reported that the lockdown was lifted at 1:15pm after police determined there was no longer an active shooter situation. Classes will resume Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cA senior member of our athletic staff was shot on campus in the Laney Field House,\u201d the school shared in a statement to multiple outlets. \u201cThe individual was immediately transported to a local hospital, and we are keeping them\u2014and their loved ones\u2014in our hearts during this incredibly difficult time.
