{"id":291768,"date":"2025-11-14T20:11:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T20:11:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/291768\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T20:11:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T20:11:07","slug":"miles-teller-blames-fantastic-four-flop-on-1-person-who-f-ked-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/291768\/","title":{"rendered":"Miles Teller\u00a0Blames &#8216;Fantastic Four&#8217;\u00a0Flop on &#8216;1 Person Who F&#8211;ked Up&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIt\u2019s been 10 years since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/fantastic-four\/\" id=\"auto-tag_fantastic-four\" data-tag=\"fantastic-four\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fantastic Four<\/a> flopped, but its box-office failure still smarts for star Miles Teller. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Top Gun: Maverick actor played the lead role of Reed Richards\/Mr. Fantastic in the Marvel\/20th Century Fox project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSpeaking to Andy Cohen on SiriusXM\u2019s Radio Andy, Teller had high praise for the film\u2019s cast and crew \u2026 except one person. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI think it\u2019s unfortunate because so many people work so hard on that movie, and, honestly, maybe there was one really important person who kind of f\u2013ked it all up,\u201d he said. \u201cBut especially as a young actor at that time, it was like: \u2018If you want to be taken seriously as a leading man, you got to get on this superhero train.\u2019 And that was our chance. And the casting, I thought, was spectacular. I love all those actors.\u201d (The film\u2019s co-stars included Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Kate Mara and Tim Blake Nelson). <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tContinued Teller: \u201cBut when I first saw the movie, I remember talking to one of the studio heads and I was like, \u2018I think we\u2019re in trouble.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTeller didn\u2019t specify who he was talking about. But the film sparked a behind-the-scenes blame game, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/fantastic-four-blame-game-fox-814764\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hollywood Reporter covered at the time<\/a>. Before the movie opened, director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/josh-trank\/\" id=\"auto-tag_josh-trank\" data-tag=\"josh-trank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Trank<\/a> sent an email to some members of the cast and crew to say he was proud of the film, which, he wrote, was \u201cbetter than 99 percent of the comic-book movies ever made.\u201d One unnamed cast member replied to the email and wrote: \u201cI don\u2019t think so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAccording to sources associated with the film, the director \u201cdid not produce material that would have opened the way to a salvageable film.\u201d And some claimed Trank resisted help. \u201cHe holed up in a tent and cut himself off from everybody,\u201d said one. Between setups, a source said, \u201c[Trank] would go to his trailer and he wouldn\u2019t interact with anybody.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTrank also tweeted that he had made \u201ca fantastic version\u201d of the film that audiences would \u201cprobably never see,\u201d then quickly deleted the message.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTrank has since said about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/fantastic-four-josh-trank-flop-blame\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">film to Variety<\/a>: \u201cAs far as my own level of responsibility in the film turning out to be a disaster and not working, I was absolutely responsible. But so was everybody else. When I was in the middle of the situation, it was very clear that everybody was doing the wrong thing \u2026 You\u2019ve got all of these professional adults who worked on a lot of movies and all these well-established industry insiders who have been making these types of movies for a long time, and here\u2019s this young, relatively inexperienced filmmaker being described as in over his head. They said I wasn\u2019t communicating with people and didn\u2019t want to play by the rules \u2026 What I remembered was I was being overly communicative. The problem was I was communicating ideas that didn\u2019t mesh well with everybody else\u2019s. That\u2019s not their fault and it\u2019s not my fault.
