However, this claim is fake as confirmed by the PIB Fact Check team.
Another misleading thing about the message is that DA is given to government employees, while pensioners (retired employees) get dearness relief (DR).

The PIB Fact Check team on social media X (formerly known as Twitter) posted: “A message circulating on #WhatsApp claims that the Central Government has withdrawn post-retirement benefits like DA hikes and Pay Commission revisions for retired employees under the Finance Act 2025. The PIB Fact Check team confirms that this claim is fake.”

Exposing the fake message, the PIB Fact Check team says: “The fact is Rule 37 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021 has been amended to state that if an absorbed PSU employee is dismissed for misconduct, their retirement benefits will be forfeited. This is not applicable to all central government pensioners.”What is Dearness Allowance (DA)?Dearness Allowance (DA) is a cost-of-living adjustment that assists central government employees to offset the effects of inflation. While employees get DA, pensioners get DR.

DR is declared twice a year, mostly in the months of March and September. So in the months of January and February, DR on pension/family pension is calculated as per the DR rates available for the month of December of the previous year.

What is amended Rule 37 (29C) for PSU employees? The amended Rule 37(29C) is as follows:
“… the dismissal or removal from service of the public sector undertaking of any employee after his absorption in such undertaking for any subsequent misconduct shall lead to the forfeiture of the retirement benefits for the service rendered under the Government also and in the event of his dismissal or removal or retrenchment, the decision of the undertaking shall be subject to review by the Ministry administratively concerned with the undertaking.
For the purpose of this Rule, the relevant provisions of Rule 7 and 8 read with Rule 41 and Rule 44(5)(a) &(b) would be applicable analogous as is applicable to a Government servant under these Rules”

Many pensioners are worried as there is a message being circulated on WhatsApp claiming that the central government…

[39
28,142571,113473,153358,153354,153355,147,530,153356,153357
0":"post-292861","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-personal-finance","8":"tag-business","9":"tag-central-government-pensioners","10":"tag-dearness-allowance","11":"tag-finance-act-2025","12":"tag-pay-commission-benefits","13":"tag-pensioners-dearness-relief","14":"tag-personal-finance","15":"tag-personalfinance","16":"tag-pib-fact-check","17":"tag-post-retirement-benefits
["GET
