He called the lecture series discussion \u201cvery powerful\u201d as he shared stories about his beginnings and starting the clothing line FUBU, his 18 years on Shark Tank and sharing lessons in entrepreneurship and life.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t stop a great entrepreneur from succeeding, they\u2019re going to succeed, regardless. Things will always change,\u201d he said. \u201cNo matter what, something is going to happen and it\u2019s up to entrepreneurs who I think are going to solve these matters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baker\u2019s role as the evening\u2019s Q&A moderator was \u201ca last-minute twist,\u201d he said, which \u201cmade it a little more fun for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe could share some stories that a regular interviewer might not be able to share,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Baker hopes the audience took away from John\u2019s discussion, no matter their life situation, is \u201cnot to give up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest thing between those people who are successful and those who aren\u2019t is usually they give up too soon, and he\u2019s a good testament to that,\u201d Baker said. \u201cHe failed multiple times and kept trying. He kept going, which I think is pretty inspirational. It ain\u2019t easy, no matter what. No matter how much money you have or don\u2019t have, it is not easy to be successful in business. It\u2019s morning to night, and no FastPass to the front of the line.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baker pitched his virtual pinball business called VPCabs \u2014 which he has since sold \u2014 in Season 7 of Shark Tank. John invested in the business. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think as far as all the Sharks go, he\u2019s the most relatable,\u201d said the 2021 Hamilton Citizen of the Year<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s a kid that came from nothing and never forgets where he came from. Almost everybody can relate to a part of his story.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to have the drive to succeed, John\u2019s bottom-line message is that \u201call of the answers to the things they want are very obtainable.\u201d He said success is exclusive to the wealthy or highly educated.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt can be done, it\u2019s just a matter of how well you execute it,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd don\u2019t let people tell you it can be done, no matter what you want to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why the next big trend, John said, is \u201canything you love.\u201d<\/p>\n
