3<\/p>\n Grealish will not be going to the World Cup in the mind of RooneyCredit: Getty<\/p>\n The Everton<\/a> winger, who has recovered some of his previous form on loan from Manchester City<\/a> this season, was not picked by Thomas Tuchel<\/a> for the current international break.<\/p>\n He has not played for his country for over a year, with the most recent of his 39 total caps coming in October 2024.<\/p>\n And with Tuchel not selecting him at all during his tenure as boss, despite the upturn in performances, he could be set to miss the World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n In Rooney’s mind, he has already written Grealish off<\/a> from claiming a spot in North America next summer.<\/p>\n Adrian Durham names which England stars he believes will make the plane for the World Cup!<\/p>\n \u201cJack Grealish<\/a> may as well book his holiday for the summer now because he\u2019s not getting in the squad,” he said on his podcast, the Wayne Rooney Show.<\/p>\n \u201cAnthony Gordon dropped out and he still doesn\u2019t get called into it, so I think Thomas Tuchel is quite set.\u201d<\/p>\n Newcastle winger Gordon pulled out of the England squad<\/a> through injury, but Grealish wasn’t brought in to replace him.<\/p>\n And that appeared to be a clear showing of where he stands in Tuchel’s options of wide players in his set-up.<\/p>\n From the squad that has come together this month<\/a>, there are six other players who are comfortable in the wide areas.<\/p>\n Bukayo Saka<\/a>, Marcus Rashford<\/a>, Jarrod Bowen<\/a>, Phil Foden<\/a>, Eberechi Eze<\/a> and Morgan Rogers<\/a> are all vying for a World Cup spot.<\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n Rooney was brutal when giving advice to the Everton wingerCredit: GettyWill Grealish be on the plane? <\/p>\n England have already booked their place at the 2026 World Cup<\/a>, boasting a perfect record in qualifying. <\/p>\n Rooney doesn’t believe that Grealish will be going to the tournament though – and talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham agrees. <\/p>\n Durham said last month when predicting his squad<\/a>: \u201c[He is] a really good player, really good lad, and really wants to play for England. <\/p>\n “The big thing he isn\u2019t doing at Everton is playing European football, playing Champions League football, and he\u2019s not competing at the top end of the table.<\/p>\n \u201cSadly for Jack, he\u2019s up against players who are competing at that end of the table…he\u2019s going to have to perform above and beyond to prove to Thomas Tuchel that he\u2019s worthy of a place in the squad.<\/p>\n \u201cFor me personally, I feel like it\u2019s a shame because he\u2019s such a good lad. But I can\u2019t see Jack Grealish going to the World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n Grealish is facing an uphill battle to claim a spot in the England squadCredit: GettyWhat else did Rooney say? <\/p>\n On top of his brutal Grealish take, Rooney also discussed England’s striker conundrum ahead of the World Cup. <\/p>\n He has questioned Tuchel’s decision not to test out some back-up strikers to Harry Kane<\/a> and give them some minutes.<\/p>\n \u201cI think this international break was the perfect opportunity to say to Harry Kane, \u2018Go and have a week\u2019s holiday\u2019,” Rooney remarked.<\/p>\n “He doesn\u2019t need to be there. He\u2019d want to be there, but you need to take that option away from him and then it\u2019s an opportunity for Tuchel to look at players and see what they can do.<\/p>\n \u201cIf Phil [Foden] stays in his shape and form, I have no problem [with him as a false nine].
