Multiple products containing moringa leaf powder are being recalled<\/a> after being linked to a Salmonella outbreak. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Africa Imports<\/a> and Food to Live<\/a> have issued a voluntary recall of their respective Organic Moringa Leaf Powder products after a supplier lot of the powder tested positive for Salmonella.<\/p>\n These recalls follow an earlier announcement<\/a> from the FDA about an outbreak of Salmonella across multiple states, linked back to moringa leaf powders supplied by Vallon Farmdirect PVT LTD of Johdpur, India. That particular notice also mentioned a recall on Member\u2019s Mark Super Greens dietary supplement powder. If you believe you have affected product, do not consume it.<\/p>\n Salmonella infection<\/a> generally occurs after ingesting food or water contaminated with the related bacteria. It may cause diarrhea, fever, cramps, chills, nausea, and vomiting, with symptoms usually appearing within 72 hours.<\/p>\n Children, older adults, and anyone with a compromised immune system may be more likely to experience additional complications or severe illness. For everyone else, most symptoms often resolve within a week without treatment.<\/p>\n Dietary supplements are subject to different FDA regulations<\/a> than conventional food and drugs. The FDA can step in if a product is misbranded, but supplements don\u2019t have to be initially approved by the FDA before hitting shelves. Which products are affected?<\/p>\n The FDA\u2019s investigation into the outbreak is ongoing, which means more products could be added to the recall in the future.
