{"id":293953,"date":"2025-11-15T21:42:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-15T21:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/293953\/"},"modified":"2025-11-15T21:42:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-15T21:42:10","slug":"texas-am-pulls-off-biggest-comeback-in-school-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/293953\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas A&#038;M pulls off biggest comeback in school history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nov 15, 2025, 04:05 PM ET<\/p>\n<p>COLLEGE STATION, Texas &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4870971\/marcel-reed\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Marcel Reed<\/a> threw for a career-high 439 yards and three touchdowns and No. 3 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/245\/texas-am-aggies\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas A&amp;M<\/a> rallied from a 27-point deficit to remain undefeated with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/game\/_\/gameId\/401752772\/south-carolina-texas-am\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">31-30 victory<\/a> over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/team\/_\/id\/2579\/south-carolina-gamecocks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">South Carolina<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the biggest comeback in school history, eclipsing a 21-point rally by a Johnny Manziel-led team in a 52-48 win in the 2013 Chick-fil-A Bowl over Duke. Entering Saturday, teams were 0-286 in Southeastern Conference play since 2004 when trailing by 27 points or more.<\/p>\n<p>Reed bounced back from an awful first half where he was intercepted twice and had a fumble returned for a score to put the Aggies in a 30-3 hole with a dazzling second half to keep Texas A&amp;M (10-0, 7-0) on track for its first trip to the College Football Playoff and SEC title game appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s Picks<a name=\"&amp;lpos=story:editorspicks:inline:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/46977427\/trooper-pointed-players-relieved-duties\" class=\"img-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/r80353_1296x1296_1-1.jpg&#038;w=130&#038;h=130&#038;scale=crop&#038;location=center.jpeg\" width=\"65\" height=\"65\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Aggies took the lead for the first time on a 4-yard run by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4430825\/ej-smith\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">EJ Smith<\/a> with about 11 minutes left.<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M had a first down at the 1 after that, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/5141561\/jamarion-morrow\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jamarion Morrow<\/a> fumbled on a trick play and the Gamecocks recovered with about three minutes to go.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4870644\/dalton-brooks\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dalton Brooks<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4710752\/cashius-howell\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cashius Howell<\/a> sacked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4875127\/lanorris-sellers\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">LaNorris Sellers<\/a> on consecutive plays to bring up fourth-and-16 with about 90 seconds to go. Sellers scrambled on fourth down and he was stopped short of the first down marker to seal the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Sellers threw for 246 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for South Carolina (3-7, 1-7), which lost a fifth straight game.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/5079769\/izaiah-williams\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Izaiah Williams<\/a> caught a 27-yard TD pass from Reed to make it 30-10 on A&amp;M&#8217;s first drive of the second half. Reed had a 16-yard run on fourth-and-12 to keep the drive alive.<\/p>\n<p>Reed found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/5139057\/ashton-bethel-roman\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ashton Bethel-Roman<\/a> for a 39-yard TD to get the Aggies within 30-17 with about four minutes left in the third.<\/p>\n<p>Reed&#8217;s 14-yard pass to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4686248\/nate-boerkircher\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nate Boerkircher<\/a> cut the lead to a touchdown late in the third quarter. That score was set up by a short pass that Bethel-Roman turned into a 76-yard reception the play before.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4870653\/kc-concepcion\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">KC Concepcion<\/a> had seven receptions for 158 yards and Bethel-Roman added 139 yards receiving for the Aggies.<\/p>\n<p>The Gamecocks took a 10-3 lead when Sellers connected with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4870842\/vandrevius-jacobs\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Vandrevius Jacobs<\/a> on a 50-yard touchdown pass.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/>Texas A&amp;M&#8217;s Nate Boerkircher scores on a 14-yard touchdown reception during the third quarter of the Aggies&#8217; 31-30 come-from-behind win over South Carolina at Kyle Field on Saturday.\u00a0Alex Slitz\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>They pushed the lead to 17-3 when 322-pound defensive tackle <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4682818\/nick-barrett\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nick Barrett<\/a> scooped up a fumble by Reed and rumbled 17-yards for a score late in the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>South Carolina was up by 17 late in the second quarter when Brooks intercepted a pass from Sellers and returned it 39 yards to give the Aggies a first down at the 6. Concepcion couldn&#8217;t reel in two straight passes in the end zone before <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/_\/id\/4879612\/randy-bond\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Randy Bond<\/a> missed his second field goal of the half to leave Texas A&amp;M emptyhanded.<\/p>\n<p>The Aggies defense got a stop, but Reed was intercepted in the end zone with about a minute left in the first half to give the Gamecocks the ball again.
