Lauren Betts is projected to be the number one pick in the latest mock draft<\/a> by Bleacher Report. Dallas Wings have the best opportunity at getting the first overall pick. This would be the second straight year that they get it after taking Paige Bueckers<\/a> at number one last year. If they landed it, getting Betts could fast track them back into being contenders. As they have spent many years at the bottom of the standings. <\/p>\n

Betts is a game changer to say the least and will be a dominant force to whatever WNBA team gets her. UCLA who is flush with talent this year is steamrolling teams from start to finish. A large part is due to what Betts provides to the team. Although her numbers are down this year, she is still dominating with her 6\u20197 frame. UCLA has six girls who can score double digits on a nightly basis, so she doesn’t need to have her numbers she had from last year to win.<\/p>\n

That doesn\u2019t downplay the impact that she has on games. It just goes to show how good UCLA is and can be. Betts was a double double machine last year averaging 20.2 points and 9.5 rebounds. Doing so while shooting 64.8% from the field and leading the team on a Final Four<\/a> run. Before flaming out to a UCONN team that featured Bueckers and won another championship. <\/p>\n

If the Wings are able to land the first pick, they will get a player that is going to anchor their defense and can score. That is a rare combination to have and could create a dominant duo with Bueckers. Leading to them switching their fortunes as they are 19-65 over the last two seasons. The franchise also last won a championship in 2008 when they were the Detroit Shock.<\/a><\/p>\n
