CHICAGO (AP) \u2014 Former LSU basketball star Angel Reese was suspended by the Chicago Sky for the first half of the team\u2019s game against Las Vegas on Sunday (Sept. 7) for comments she made that were \u201cdetrimental to the team.\u201d<\/p>\n
The team announced the suspension Friday. Reese already missed the team\u2019s game Friday night against Indiana because of a mandatory one-game suspension by the WNBA for picking up her eighth technical foul of the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Chicago Sky values the safety, respect and well-being of every player. We are committed to accountability so our players can stay focused on playing basketball,\u201d the team said in a statement. \u201cThis matter has been handled and resolved internally, and we are moving forward as a team.\u201d<\/p>\n
The two-time All-Star voiced her frustrations with the franchise<\/a>, telling the Chicago Tribune earlier in the week that she \u201cmight have to move in a different direction and do what\u2019s best for me\u201d if the team doesn\u2019t improve its outlook.<\/p>\n Reese walked back those comments after Wednesday\u2019s victory over Connecticut and said she already had apologized to the team. The Sky are 10-31.<\/p>\n Reese, the No. 7 pick in the WNBA draft last season, is averaging 14.7 points and and a league-best 12.6 rebounds.
