With Week 12 of the 2025 college football season in the books,\u00a0DraftKings Sportsbook<\/a>\u00a0has updated its odds for who will win the 2025\u00a0Heisman Trophy. With cornerback\/wide receiver\u00a0Travis Hunter<\/a>\u00a0being the first non-quarterback winner since DeVonta Smith in 2020, another quarterback run is likely. Quarterbacks make up the top\u00a0six in the odds,\u00a0led by Indiana’s\u00a0Fernando Mendoza<\/a>\u00a0(+100), Ohio State’s\u00a0Julian Sayin<\/a>\u00a0(+200), Texas A&M’s\u00a0Marcel Reed<\/a>\u00a0(+550 ), and Vanderbilt’s\u00a0Diego Pavia<\/a>\u00a0(+1500).\u00a0Rising from seventh to fifth-best odds is\u00a0Georgia<\/a>\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Gunner Stockton<\/a>, who comes in at 25-1 odds, up from 33-1.<\/p>\n

That puts Stockton ahead of Georgia Tech<\/a> quarterback Haynes King<\/a> (33-1), Notre Dame<\/a> running back Jeremiyah Love<\/a> (40-1), and Ohio State<\/a> wide receiver Jeremiah Smith<\/a> (60-1) in the updated odds.\u00a0 In 10 games, Stockton has completed 203-of-287 of his passes (70.7%) for 2,269 yards, 19 touchdowns, and three interceptions, rushing 83 times for 350 yards and eight touchdowns, with one lost fumble. Stockton is tied with Reed for third in the SEC with a 156.9 passer rating, and his 90.1 QBR is third in the country, behind Sayin (90.4) and USC’s Jayden Maiava<\/a> (90.7).<\/p>\n

Stockton’s 1.0 interception percentage for this season is currently second-best in program history, behind Greyson Lambert’s 0.78% (two interceptions in 256 attempts). In leading his team to victory over Texas<\/a>,\u00a0Stockton completed 24-of-29 passes for 229 yards, throwing four touchdown passes, and rushing for 29 yards and a touchdown. Stockton accounted for as many touchdowns as he had incomplete passes.<\/p>\n

Head coach\u00a0Kirby Smart<\/a>\u00a0discussed Stockton following the win.<\/p>\n

“Man, he just leads, he does a great job,” Smart said. “I mean, the run to me, to ice the game, I think it was second long,\u00a0I don’t know what it was, they ran the sweep, quarterback sweep.I thought he was gonna get three or four.\u00a0And he just stuck his foot in the ground and\u00a0just ran through people and got a first down.\u00a0That was a huge play in the game.\u00a0His decision-making’s been good.\u00a0And look, I mean, he is a great player.\u00a0He is a great competitor.\u00a0But he also benefits from a really good offensive line.\u00a0And Mike and the offensive staff,\u00a0I mean, people don’t give our offensive staff enough credit.\u00a0I mean, they do a tremendous job, and we’re hard to defend.\u00a0There’s three touchdowns on a quarterback run, and\u00a0then all of a sudden he’s running the quarterback run.\u00a0And there’s a guy wide open in the back of the end zone that ran right by you that\u00a0didn’t block you, and I mean, it’s a great play.\u00a0And you can’t do them unless you’ve got a quarterback like Gunner that can execute\u00a0with the words and the language and command the huddle and manage the clock.\u00a0He’s playing at a high level and a high clip right now.\u00a0And we gotta keep getting him better and getting more tools to work with around him.”<\/p>\n
