The index was dragged down by some financial and capital goods stocks.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the more liquid S&amp;P SL20 index closed 0.40 percent, or 25.93 points lower at 6,410.<\/p>\n<p>Top negative contributors to the ASPI were Ceylinco Holdings (down 465.50 rupees at 3,030.00), Senkadagala Finance (down 124.00 rupees at 1,300.00), Bukit Darah (down 88.50 rupees at 1,010.50 rupees), Commercial Bank (down 2 rupees at 212.75), and Sampath Bank (down 1.25 rupee at 146.75).<\/p>\n<p>Market turnover continued its fall from 5.6 billion rupees to 4.4 billion, while the share volume was 138,726,299.<\/p>\n<p>Nations Trust Bank\u2019s profits for the September quarter jumped 48 percent from a year ago to 6.1 billion rupees helped by higher net interest income.<\/p>\n<p>The stock ended 3 rupees higher at 310.50.<\/p>\n<p>Read more<\/p>\n<p>Dialog Axiata said its profit rose 26.7 percent to 5.69 billion rupees in the September 2025 quarter amid higher revenue and lower direct costs.<\/p>\n<p>However, Dialog stock dipped 0.50 rupees on Monday to close at 31.oo.<\/p>\n<p>Read more<\/p>\n<p>Ambeon Securities <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.cse.lk\/cmt\/announcement_portal_prod\/SERENDIB%20LAND%20PLC-Amended%20disclosure_37154990630122025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said <\/a>Senthilverl Holdings had increased its equity stake of Serendib Land to 38.27 percent.<\/p>\n<p>In Asia, most of the stock markets extend losses, ABC news said.<\/p>\n<p>Japan\u2019s Nikkei 225 index fell following the Japan China tension, Japan\u2019s The Mainichi newspaper said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChina warned its citizens against visiting Japan following Takaichi\u2019s remarks about a potential contingency involving Taiwan, \u201d The Mainchi said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTokyo stocks dropped Monday as tensions between Japan and China hit retail and tourism issues, while growing concerns over the deterioration of Japan\u2019s fiscal health under Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi prompted selling of the yen and the debt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The index fell 0.10 percent to 50,323.91.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan\u2019s KSE 100 index was trading 0.02 percent lower at 161,900.17.<\/p>\n<p>However, India\u2019s Nifty 50 index moved 0.40 percent higher to close at 26,013.45, while the BSE Sensex moved 0.46 percent up to 84,950.95.
