Bar injury or sickness, you can count on the 30-year-old to be present on the pitch leading his side from the right flank or midfield. Although, even injury can barely keep Kimmich out of the action.<\/p>\n
The German captain was forced to miss his side\u2019s FIFA World Cup qualifying clash against Luxembourg due to a capsule injury in his right ankle. However, Kimmich was back in the starting lineup against Slovakia despite not being fully recovered.<\/p>\n
Germany manager, Julian Nagelsmann, praised his captain for his performance and grit in spite of his condition.<\/p>\n
\u201dHe\u2019s very valuable to us,\u201d acknowledged Nagelsmann in a post-match interview (as captured by @iMiaSanMia<\/a>). \u201cHe has a lot of experience at this level and played many such games. He\u2019s one of the best crossers of the ball in Europe, we saw that in the first goal, which was very important. He worked hard and had a good performance like everyone else. He still had a bit of pain, but he always gives everything for the national team and for his club. That\u2019s why he\u2019s our captain.\u201d<\/p>\n Bayern coach, Vincent Kompany, will be wincing at the thought of Kimmich playing through an injury, however, given Kimmich\u2019s fighting spirit and considering the importance of the game, Nagelsmann likely had no choice in the matter.
