Kirk Herbstreit had heard enough. On the latest episode of\u00a0Nonstop<\/a>, the longtime ESPN analyst unloaded<\/a> on critics who accuse him of being biased toward the SEC, delivering one of his most fiery and uncensored rants yet. <\/p>\n

In the process, Herbstreit made it clear that his commentary has nothing to do with conference loyalty, and everything to do with identifying the top teams for the College Football Playoff<\/a>: \u201cThese idiots say, \u2018How much do people pay you to say this bullshit?\u2019 F-off,\u201d Herbstreit said<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re talking about the sport. We\u2019re talking about what we care about. I don\u2019t give a s*** about the SEC. I give a s*** about where these teams are going to come. How are they going to find these 12 teams? Where they are going to split these hairs at No. 11, No. 12, No. 13, No. 14 \u2014 it\u2019s fascinating to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing, Herbstreit doubled down, saying critics completely misunderstand how he evaluates teams: \u201cPut Miami<\/a> in. I don\u2019t care. Put six Group of Five teams in. Do whatever you want,\u201d he added<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m just saying \u2014 everybody recognizes the depth and the challenge of the SEC. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou can hate that. You can make fun of that. Do whatever the hell you want with that. That\u2019s the reality of the sport. That\u2019s the reality of the world. You can live in a fake world.\u201d<\/p>\n

As you can tell, Herbstreit stressed that he\u2019s more intrigued by determining the final at-large spots than by which conference ultimately benefits. He didn\u2019t stop there though, as the veteran broadcaster then launched into an even sharper rebuttal, calling out fans who believe ESPN pushes SEC narratives. <\/p>\n

\u201cI get so tired of the bullshit. I just get so f\u2014ing tired,\u201d Herbstreit stated<\/a>. \u201cThese people talking about the SEC, how much they pay you \u2014 are you kidding me? I\u2019ve been here for 30 years.\u201d Herbstreit noted that he was accused of SEC favoritism even\u00a0before\u00a0ESPN aired SEC games on ABC, highlighting how illogical the criticism has become in his eyes.<\/p>\n

Furthering his point, Herbstreit emphasized that NFL draft data, AP voters nationwide and coaches across every region consistently validate the SEC\u2019s depth, making the argument about bias unserious: \u201cAt some point, aren\u2019t you idiots going to realize that the people in the NFL that draft these players, they pick a lot of SEC players,\u201d he said<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 Everybody recognizes the SEC is a step ahead of everybody else. Why is this so hard for people to put your arms around? Wake up. It\u2019s a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

All told, Herbstreit\u2019s message was simple. He\u2019s not pushing conference propaganda \u2014 the ESPN analyst is calling the sport the way he sees it. <\/p>\n

Heading into another heated College Football Playoff debate, he\u2019s clearly ready to push back on anyone insisting otherwise. Time will tell where it all leads, as two weeks remain in the regular season for the sport, and for teams inside and outside the SEC to stake their claim. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Kirk Herbstreit had heard enough.
