The WNBA has made a revenue sharing proposal to the players\u2019 union that would almost quadruple the average base salary and include a maximum salary figure of $1.1M to multiple players on each team, sources confirmed Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
First reported by the Associated Press, the sources confirmed the offer would increase the average base salary from last year\u2019s apparent $130,000 to more than $460,000. The minimum salary would also climb from a reported $78,831 for players of three or more years of experience to more than $220,000.<\/p>\n
These figures, which would take effect for the upcoming 2026 season, would then escalate incrementally during the course of the CBA.<\/p>\n
The WNBPA did not respond to requests for comment, and a key question is whether the annual salary increases are fixed or not. The players\u2019 union has been adamant that it will only accept a salary structure tied to the growth of the league, and the percentage of the W\u2019s proposed escalators is unknown at this time.<\/p>\n
The sources confirmed that the league office hopes the significant salary increase will lead to a swift conclusion to CBA negotiations<\/a>, especially since the maximum annual salary would balloon from $249,244 this past season to the $1.1M.<\/p>\n
