During the Raiders\u2019 \u201cMonday Night Football\u201d loss to the Cowboys, Peyton Manning reflected on a funny first encounter with Brock Bowers, as well as teaching the Las Vegas tight end\u2019s girlfriend at the University of Tennessee.<\/p>\n

In the second quarter, Peyton told his brother Eli on the \u201cManningCast\u201d<\/a> that he first ran into the All-Pro at a Raiders-Broncos game last season.<\/p>\n

The Hall of Fame quarterback utilized the opportunity to tease Bowers for attending Georgia \u2014 whom he carved up during his time at Tennessee \u2014 while applauding the star tight end\u2019s girlfriend for studying at his alma mater.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d never met him before,\u201d Manning said. \u201cBut he walked up to me right by me, and I said, \u2018Bowers, you went to Georgia, so I know you couldn\u2019t be that smart. But your girlfriend went to Tennessee.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Manning added that Bowers\u2019 girlfriend, Cameron Newell, was a student in his class at the university.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c[She\u2019s] very smart, obviously,\u201d Manning, who was named a professor of practice at Tennessee\u2019s College of Communication and Information in 2023, said, \u201cso good for him for figuring it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eli quipped back with some follow-up questions, playfully doubting his brother\u2019s teaching ability: \u201cShe\u2019s smart because she\u2019s in your class? Why is that obvious?\u201d<\/p>\n

Peyton clarified that Newell was smart because she goes to Tennessee, but emphasized that it\u2019s a \u201ctough class.\u201d<\/p>\n

Newell can often be found cheering on Bowers from the crowd \u2014 evident from her Instagram account<\/a> \u2014 and even supported him while he was with the rival Bulldogs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
