BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) \u2014 There\u2019s a new children\u2019s book based in Boise, written by CBS2\u2019s community reporter Sophia Doumani. \u2018How Peanut Met Butter\u2019 is based on Doumani\u2019s dog, Peanut, as he adjusts to welcoming a new brother, Butter. The story follows the mini goldendoodles through the ups and downs of learning how to share, adapt to change, and have fun in the process.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was shocked how hard it was for Peanut to adjust to our new family dynamic and thought, if it\u2019s this hard to add another dog to the family, I cannot imagine how hard it would be to add another kid to the family,\u201d said Doumani.<\/p>\n
Doumani says while the dogs \u201chated\u201d each other at first, they are now the best of friends. She hopes the book can help adults and children alike deal with the one thing that is guaranteed in life, change.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis book isn\u2019t just for people adding another sibling to the family, there\u2019s something for everyone who has ever dealt with negative emotions associated with big transitions in life,\u201d said Doumani. \u201cI hope kids can get the tools they need to shift their perspective and see the good that can come from starting a new chapter,\u201d said Doumani.<\/p>\n
The children\u2019s book is based in Idaho and showcases local spots like Ann Morrison Park, the Boise River Greenbelt as well as several local businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy job is highlighting people and businesses in Idaho, so I thought, why should this be any different? Be on the lookout for some Boise staples and also keep your eyes peeled for a squirrel hiding on every page,\u201d said Doumani. \u201cI\u2019m still not sure if my dogs love or hate squirrels but I knew I had to include them!\u201d<\/p>\n
