It was a run that produced three championships, with Thompson, who earned four rings with Golden State, as the star guard and Brown as the lead assistant under Steve Kerr.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd on top of [the motorcycles] is attention to detail,\u201d said Thompson, who scored 13 points in Dallas\u2019 loss. \u201cNo stone is unturned with Mike B.,\u201d Thompson said. \u201cAnd then just his longevity. It was incredible. I was watching him when I was in high school.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brown started as a video coordinator in the early 90s with the Nuggets, then toured the NBA with several stops as either an assistant or head coach. <\/p>\n
Still, Thompson didn\u2019t forget the Nuggets portion of Brown\u2019s career. <\/p>\n
Before the Warriors played Denver, Thompson would try to motivate Brown by reminding him, \u201cThey didn\u2019t want to keep you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cA little ploy to get the best out of your co-workers,\u201d Thompson said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Brown left the Warriors in 2022. Then Thompson left in 2024 to join the Mavericks in free agency. <\/p>\n
They faced each other Wednesday for the first time since Brown became the head coach of the Knicks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI was excited for him [being hired by New York]. I know how much he cares about the game. He\u2019s a player\u2019s coach,\u201d Thompson said. \u201cAnd he started at an entry level, a video coordinating job. All the way to head coaching for many franchises. So his story is that of perseverance and commitment that\u2019s second to none in the coaching world<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019ll do great. \u2026 Tough act to follow with [Tom Thibodeau] but he\u2019ll do a great job.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Mitchell Robinson said he\u2019s adopted a big-picture outlook on his reduced minutes when asked if it\u2019s mentally tough.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was at first, but after thinking about it a lot, obviously I don\u2019t want to miss the playoffs or later on in the future,\u201d Robinson said who scored just three points but pulled down eight boards Wednesday night. \u201cWhatever\u2019s best, just going to stick to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Robinson has been operating on a minutes restriction since missing the opening four games of the season for what the Knicks called \u201cload management.\u201d He has often only played three or four minutes at a time and hadn\u2019t eclipsed 20 minutes in any game heading into Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Still, Brown said Robinson\u2019s minutes restriction had eased and he was eligible to play as many as 27 minutes in Monday\u2019s loss to the Heat. <\/p>\n
Robinson started at center but only logged 18 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like I adjusted pretty well, getting out there playing hard for my little short minutes bursts, whatever,\u201d Robinson said. \u201cJust taking it all in.\u201d<\/p>\n
The purpose of Robinson\u2019s minutes restriction\u00a0 is to maintain his health for the playoffs after two ankle surgeries in the past two years. Asked what the medical staff has relayed to him about his minutes limit, Robinson again pleaded ignorance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
