\u201cLate Show<\/a>\u201d host Stephen Colbert<\/a> had some mock sympathy for Rep. Nancy Mace<\/a> (R-S.C.) after an interview in which she indicated she\u2019s not exactly popular with her colleagues.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not part of the powerful, I\u2019m not part of the elite, I\u2019m an island of one,\u201d Mace said after being asked if there\u2019s a cabal of D.C. elites. \u201cI don\u2019t get invited to parties. I don\u2019t have any friends. I have a dog.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThat is so sad. I don\u2019t agree with Mace\u2019s politics, but South Carolinians gotta stick together,\u201d said Colbert, who is also from the state. \u201cNancy, next time I throw a party, I would like to invite your dog.\u201d <\/p>\n

Turns out he wasn\u2019t feeling bad for Mace.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one should have to spend that much time alone with Nancy Mace,\u201d Colbert said.<\/p>\n
