{"id":303420,"date":"2025-11-20T15:28:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T15:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/303420\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T15:28:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T15:28:12","slug":"courtyard-acts-as-emotional-nucleus-of-the-sanctum-house-by-renesa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/303420\/","title":{"rendered":"Courtyard acts as &#8220;emotional nucleus&#8221; of The Sanctum house by Renesa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sweeping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/concrete\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">concrete<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/bricks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">brick<\/a> walls wrap a circular, water-filled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/courtyards\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">courtyard<\/a> at the heart of The Sanctum, a low-slung home in Punjab, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/india\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">India<\/a>, designed by local architecture studio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/renesa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Renesa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Spread across a three-acre site in Amritsar, the 1,115-square-metre dwelling comprises a cluster of geometric volumes formed with red brick and concrete.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2271380 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/renesa-the-sanctum-home-india_dezeen_2364_col_0-852x1277.jpg\" alt=\"Exterior view of The Sanctum home in India\" width=\"1577\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Renesa has completed a low-slung home in India<\/p>\n<p>The Sanctum&#8217;s circular courtyard and surrounding arc-shaped walls define a flowing route through the home and its surrounding gardens, creating what <a href=\"https:\/\/studiorenesa.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Renesa<\/a> describes as an alternative to rural India&#8217;s &#8220;predictable, box-like houses&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The design intentionally moves away from the performative grandeur typical of Indian luxury homes to instead explore an architecture of restraint, where serenity, proportion, and tactile honesty define luxury,&#8221; principal architect Sanchit Arora told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2271383 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/renesa-the-sanctum-home-india_dezeen_2364_col_4-852x1277.jpg\" alt=\"Brick home by Renesa\" width=\"1577\" height=\"2364\"  \/>Brick and concrete were used for the structure<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At its heart lies the idea of the &#8216;void as generator&#8217;,&#8221; added Arora. &#8220;The circular courtyard becomes both the spatial and emotional nucleus of the home, shaping movement, light, and experience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The house is not a statement of excess, but a sanctuary of emotion and reflection.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2271401 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/renesa-the-sanctum-home-india_dezeen_2364_col_27-852x1277.jpg\" alt=\"Courtyard interior at brick home by Renesa\" width=\"1577\" height=\"2364\"  \/>It is arranged around a circular courtyard<\/p>\n<p>Arora described the home&#8217;s layout as being based on a &#8220;gradient of intimacy&#8221;, with a central layer of private family spaces around the courtyard wrapped by more communal areas such as the bar and dining room.<\/p>\n<p>In the courtyard itself, concentric circles of planting, stepped benches in polished concrete and a shallow pool of water are traversed by a ramped walkway.
