\n\tWith Ohio State\u2019s final home game just two days away, Ryan Day used his weekly radio show<\/a> to spotlight the Buckeyes\u2019 seniors, praise emerging contributors and reinforce the urgency of November football.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n\tDay said Senior Day is \u201ca great opportunity to celebrate\u201d a group of well-accomplished veterans \u2014 including the Styles brothers, with Sonny\u2019s impact well known and Lorenzo\u2019s kickoff-return touchdown last weekend\u00a0\u201cbringing the house down.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n\tSpecial teams remained front and center as Day credited Nate Ebner and several young players for the breakthrough return against UCLA. He also warned that Rutgers can try anything\u00a0in the kicking game this weekend. Day also highlighted strong practice weeks from quarterbacks Julian Sayin, Lincoln Kienholz and Tavien St. Clair, emphasizing that Ohio State\u2019s depth will be tested and every Buckeye must be ready.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tInside the Woody, Day said the team is embracing that challenge, staying late and chasing perfection in all three phases. Now, with one last home crowd waiting, Ohio State turns its attention to honoring its seniors \u2014 and taking care of business on Saturday in the Horseshoe.\n<\/p>\n

\tOn Ohio State\u2019s final home game, the team\u2019s seniors<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said the season \u201cgoes so fast.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cGreat Senior Day here for everyone to recognize all the hard work that our seniors have put into the program.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cGreat young men that are well-accomplished.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said Saturday \u201cwill be a great opportunity to celebrate\u201d the seniors.<\/p>\n

\tOn the Styles brothers participating in Senior Day<\/p>\n

\t\tOn Lorenzo: \u201cIt was great to see Lorenzo take that one back last week. The stadium was on fire when we returned that back. Very well-executed, but Lorenzo was the one that brought the house down for that. That was great.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\tOn Lorenzo: \u201cHe\u2019s become a huge contributor to our team. He\u2019s got a lot of versatility in what he does.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said \u201cwe all know\u201d what Sonny has meant to the program. \u201cJust a great player.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn Styles\u2019 kickoff return touchdown<\/p>\n

\t\tDay praised Nate Ebner for his role in Ohio State\u2019s kickoff return touchdown.<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said the Buckeyes have been hammering away at special teams the past couple of weeks, so it was good to see that hard work rewarded.<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said Miles Lockhart, Jelani Thurman, David Adolph, Ryan Rudzinski, Joey Velazquez, Leroy Rocker and Brandon Inniss also played a pivotal role on the return.<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cIt\u2019s great for special teams and the morale.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn Rutgers\u2019 special teams<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said Ohio State must be prepared for Rutgers to do anything on special teams this week.<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said Rutgers has always had a good special teams unit under Greg Schiano.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cThey\u2019re well-coached. They play hard on special teams.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn Jayden Fielding<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said Fielding has to do his job, just like the rest of the Buckeyes.<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cThat\u2019s the message to everybody in the building: We have to be at our best.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cWe have to make sure we\u2019re focusing on a daily basis on doing our job.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cThat\u2019s gotta be it right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn Ohio State\u2019s depth against Rutgers<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cDepth is gonna get challenged, as we know.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cWe need everyone to be at their best.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cThat\u2019s why we try to play as much depth as we can. That\u2019s why we practice so hard and prepare.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn Ohio State\u2019s wide receiver depth<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cOnce you start doing it a game, you build confidence in yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cWhen you come to Ohio State, you come to play football.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cYou came here for a reason. Hhere we go. Now is a great opportunity and you got to go show it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn Julian Sayin<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cHad a good week of work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cReally good mindset.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said Sayin is maturing every week in his preparation and practice.<\/p>\n

\tOn Lincoln Kienholz<\/p>\n

\t\tDay called Kienholz\u2019s performance against UCLA \u201cgood.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cHad a good week of practice this week, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cPlayed well. Threw a couple of really nice balls. \u2026 Was very physical on the sideline. I told him let\u2019s not ever do that again unless it\u2019s fourth down, but he\u2019s a competitive guy, you can see it. Good to see him get on the field, get some run.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn Tavien St. Clair<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cI think he\u2019s had his best week of practice the last week. Had a good day (on Tuesday). Making some good throws.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cHe\u2019s learning the speed of the game and how fast it\u2019s going, but he\u2019s got the right approach, right mindset.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said St. Clair has built rapport and trust with the freshmen pass catchers he came to Ohio State.<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cHe has the potential, and he\u2019s gaining on it every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\tDay compared St. Clair to Arvell Reese because of how Reese bought into his development as a freshman. \u201c(Reese) used that as an opportunity to grow and for his development, and now look how much it\u2019s paid off. It\u2019s the same thing here with Tavien. I think it is paying off, and his attitude has been excellent the past week.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn Ohio State\u2019s freshmen progressing<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said Ohio State takes \u201cvery seriously\u201d that recruits must want to be a Buckeye.<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cSomeday you\u2019re gonna wake up and drive over the Woody and ask, \u2018Why did I come to Ohio State again? Is it really worth all this work?\u2019 Your darn right it is, when you pick it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cI think for these freshmen, all that being said, they\u2019re gonna go through phases where they kind of plateau, they kind of hit that rut. That\u2019s why you invest in your faith, family and friends, so that they can pull you out of that.<\/p>\n

\tOn Ohio State\u2019s players wanting to improve<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said Ohio State\u2019s players want to be around the Woody as much as possible.<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said the Buckeyes are never in a hurry to leave the facility after practice. He joked that nobody leaves tire marks in the parking lot.<\/p>\n

\t\tDay said he\u2019ll often find his players on the field, in the locker room or in the film room well after practice has ended.<\/p>\n

\tOn Ohio State\u2019s offense scoring touchdowns<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cWhen you keep getting at-bats, you want to get there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cWe want perfection.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cWe want to score every time we touch the ball.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn going for it vs. kicking a FG in the red zone<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cThere\u2019s give and take.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cWhen you score seven points, that\u2019s a big deal when your defense is playing well, so we want to be aggressive and scoring touchdowns. That\u2019s worth a lot more than three points.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cThe other way to look at it is you come off the field and you got points and you keep that momentum going, you keep the pressure on the other team. How well your defense is holding up is important in making those decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOn Ohio State\u2019s stadium atmosphere for home games<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cI think the stadium has been excellent this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cI think the atmosphere has been excellent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cYou can feel that when you\u2019re out there. I think the players feel it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\t\u201cThis year, the crowd is really feeding off the players and the players are really feeding off the crowd.\u201d<\/p>\n
