EL SERENO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Shots were fired Thursday afternoon near a high school in the El Sereno neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to police, prompting a school lockdown.<\/p>\n
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to Woodrow Wilson Senior High School on Multnomah Street just after 3:30 p.m. after receiving calls about a reported shooting.<\/p>\n
Two suspects reportedly opened fire in the parking lot area, one of whom got into a truck – possibly a green truck – and took off, according to police.<\/p>\n
The second suspect was seen running on Soto Street. Police said no victims were found.<\/p>\n
The Los Angeles Fire Department cleared the scene later in the afternoon and also said no victims were found.<\/p>\n
It’s unclear what prompted the shooting.<\/p>\n
The incident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
Meantime, LAUSD sent a message to parents and guardians, confirming law enforcement activity in the area.<\/p>\n
“The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remain my top priority. I am calling to advise you that our campus is on lockdown because of law-enforcement activity in the area. The law enforcement activity is not related to immigration enforcement. We are following district protocols.<\/p>\n
Our school will also provide resources for students who may need additional mental health support because of this incident.”<\/p>\n
