{"id":304674,"date":"2025-11-21T06:44:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T06:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/304674\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T06:44:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T06:44:11","slug":"singapore-says-q3-gdp-grows-4-2-y-y-upgrades-2025-forecast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/304674\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore says Q3 GDP grows 4.2% y\/y, upgrades 2025 forecast"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Singapore on Friday upgraded its economic outlook for 2025 as third-quarter gross domestic product growth beat market \u200bexpectations and initial estimates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">GDP rose 4.2% in the third quarter \u200cfrom a year earlier, government data showed, faster than the 2.9% official advance \u200cestimate released last month and a median forecast of 4.0% in a Reuters poll of economists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">On a quarter-on-quarter seasonally adjusted basis, GDP expanded 2.4% from the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The trade ministry raised its GDP growth forecast for \u20602025 to &#8220;around 4.0%\u200c&#8221; from a previous range of 1.5% to 2.5%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">It forecast 2026 GDP growth at 1.0%\u200d to 3.0%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">&#8220;Global economic conditions have turned out to be more resilient than expected,&#8221; the ministry said in a statement. &#8220;In particular, GDP \u200bgrowth in most of Singapore\u2019s key trading partners came in better than \u200cexpected in the third quarter of 2025.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">At a review in October, the Monetary Authority of Singapore left monetary policy unchanged as growth in the city-state remained resilient despite challenges from U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/live\/trump-tariffs-live-updates-trump-vows-export-curbs-india-hike-on-deck-china-and-canada-envoys-visit-us-200619355.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:import tariffs;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">import tariffs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Singapore&#8217;s exports to the United States are subject to a 10% tariff. That is lower than \u2060the tariffs imposed on its Southeast Asian neighbours,\u200b but sectoral levies &#8211; including a \u200b100% tariff on branded drugs &#8211; remain a significant concern.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Broader sectoral tariffs could hurt demand for Singapore&#8217;s exports, including \u200dsemiconductors, consumer electronics \u2060and pharmaceutical goods.
