Jen Galloway FNP-C adds Nurse Practitioner to local team

What’s in a face? What’s in a smile? Those are questions that Jen Galloway has spent a career asking, and as she continues to ponder them, she’s built a team to help her find the answers.

Jen Galloway FNP-C recently welcomed Shawn Snyder DNP, FNP-NPC, to work alongside herself and her existing nurse injector, Kara Turner, BSN, RN.

Turner and Synder came to the practice with years of experience in medical aesthetics and with a desire to further Galloway’s mission of health and happiness for Casper patients.

Snyder graduated with his doctorate of nursing from the University of Wyoming in 2015. He practiced for five years in primary care and urgent care but then, he says, he wanted to try something different. That’s what led to his current specialty: aesthetics.

“I guess for me, because I do hormone optimization, weight loss and aesthetic treatments, they way I look at the services that I offer is that I just want people to, number one, have confidence,” Snyder said. “I want them to have confidence and feel good, inside and out.”

Turner agrees. She has been a nurse for more than 24 years, working in a family practice for years before leaving “to be a mom.” She raised her family for close to 14 years before returning to the world of medicine, where she began working for a dermatology practice.

“That’s actually how I met Jen,” Turner shared. “She was doing aesthetics part-time and she mentored me quite a bit. And then, when she left to go to school to be a nurse practitioner, I was fortunate enough to get her former position. That was in 2019 or 2020 and I’ve been in aesthetics ever since.”

Galloway said that when she first opened her practice, she knew she wanted to bring Turner in as soon as possible.

“My initial thought, when I first opened my practice, was that I would have time to do both things, medical and aesthetics,” Galloway shared. “It quickly became obvious that that wasn’t going to happen. So I had the opportunity to bring Kara on because, like she said, we’d worked together and I knew she was a great injector.”

Galloway said that she’s worked in aesthetics for many years, so it’s always held a special place in her heart.

“That’s why I enjoyed doing it and why I wanted to continue to do it,” Galloway said. “And then I had the opportunity to have Kara come and work for me. And that was an easy decision to make.”

When Galloway made the decision to combine her love for medicine with her love for aesthetics, she knew she needed a team that cared about both of those things just as much as she did. She found that team with Snyder and Turner. Aesthetics are a form of medicinal therapy and they deserve to be treated as such. The world of aesthetics is so much more than “nip, cut, fill, inject.” There’s so much science to the practice, and Galloway knew she needed individuals who took that science seriously.

“In medical aesthetics, a lot of our treatments are rooted in science and artistry,” Turner said. “And it really does help people gain a little bit of confidence when they feel refreshed. They still look like themselves, but they’re more confident in their skin. Whether it’s for an event — a lot of times people just come in for weddings or the holiday season — or people that come relatively continually to do the anti-aging practice and stay on top of the fine lines and wrinkles, we’re here for all of them and we take it seriously.”

Jen Galloway FNP-C offers a variety of services, including Botox and Dermal Filler, Jeuveau, various types of skin care, and more.

According to Galloway’s website, “Botox and Jeuveau are FDA-approved neuromodulators injectable products that cause temporary paralysis of the muscle. This prevents contraction of the facial muscles to help correct and prevent lines and wrinkles. Just about any area on the face can be treated including between the brows, forehead, and crow’s feet around the eyes.”

The products offered can treat upper lips, “lip flips,” chin dimplings, and neck lines.

“The result is a youthful, smoother and more refreshed look,” the website boasts. “We provide subtle, natural results so you look like a refreshed version of yourself!”

Similarly, Dermal fillers “are FDA-approved injectable products that are designed to correct age-related volume loss. Areas that can be treated include the lips and lip lines, cheeks, chin, under eyes, and jawline. Whether you are looking to add volume, restore volume, or contour and shape, we have the training and experience to provide natural looking and long-lasting results. We offer all the Juvéderm products to give clients the results they want.”

The most common misconception when it comes to these types of services are that they are done simply for vanity’s sake. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The majority of patients who undergo these services simply want to feel refreshed. They want to feel good in their own skin. They want to feel confident. Botox and Dermal Fillers are simple ways to help people feel better about who they are and how they look.

“The most common complaint we get is that people feel like they look tired,” Galloway said. “They want to feel refreshed and they want to look refreshed and that’s something that we can help people with. With Botox, you’re doing it for your fine lines and your wrinkles, to prevent deep lines. And then, with your Dermal Fillers, they’re hyaluronic acid-based and they help with volume loss, structure support and kind of lifting everything back up that gravity and aging takes down.”

There’s so much beauty and intricacy involved in the world of aesthetics, and it was important for Galloway to hire actual nurse practitioners or registered nurses who understand the health benefits and the risks that go along with these procedures.

“I think when people see things on social media, it’s usually the negative aspects of what Botox and Fillers can do,” Turner said. “Those are usually things that are overfilled or injections that aren’t put in the right plane of tissue, so you have unnatural movements and unnatural looks. That’s definitely something we prevent here. The three of us, we don’t have any problem saying ‘no’ to patients regarding treatments. We will not overtreat somebody, which I think is really important. A lot of practitioners will just tell patients what they want to hear, versus a practitioner guiding the service and offering the appropriate treatment.”

Galloway, Turner, and Snyder absolutely guide the service and they trust the science. They understand what goes where and how much needs to go there. They’re not trying to get as many patients as they can in order to meet a quota or make a set amount of money. They care about each patient individually and they understand that each individual’s treatment is different, unique, special.

“We feel like the best treatment is one that goes mostly unnoticed,” Galloway said. “When when you leave here, we don’t want people to be like, ‘Oh, you just had a bunch of filler put in your face.’ We want patients to feel better about themselves and we understand that less is more.”

That’s a principle that Galloway has followed throughout the majority of her career, and it’s one that she applies to all aspects of her practice. Less is more. She won’t provide prescriptions just to provide them. She takes a holistic approach to health, wellness, and weight and she treats the body as an entire system, each built with its own intricacies and capabilities. Each person, each body, each face is different and sacred, and that’s something she has imparted on her team more than maybe anything else.

“Jen really focuses on wellness,” Snyder offered. “And wellness isn’t just physical wellness; it’s inside wellness and outside wellness. So when you feel good on the inside, you’re going to feel good on the outside. That’s mental wellbeing, and those things trickle down and translate to all kinds of different things, whether it’s feeling more confident dating, feeling more confident in a job interview. A lot of times I have patients who work on Zoom and they want to feel more comfortable being on camera. It’s really cool to see that boost of confidence and how that translates to a personal and professional life.”

When patients walk into Galloway’s practice, each member of the team wants them to feel like they are a priority, like they’re not just a number “or a dart on a dart board, or a voodoo doll.” They understand the importance of individualized treatment and, more than anything, they understand the importance of safety.

Part of ensuring that safety is the fact that Galloway, as the practice’s medical director, is on site at all times. If things go wrong — and, Galloway stresses, sometimes things do go wrong — they have plans and procedures in place to ensure that a patient is treated safely and carefully.

“I don’t know if people realize that with, say, dermal fillers, you can have an emergency,” Galloway admitted. “There are arteries involved and if you accidently hit one, does your injector know how to treat that and is there a medical director on site to help them with complications? Those things are important, and that’s why Kara is so important to the practice as well, because she’s constantly staying up to date on her rules and regulations through the Wyoming State Board of Nursing. I think it’s important for patients to know, when they’re trying to find an injector, whether they’ve done their training. Do they know what to do if there’s a problem? Is there a medical director on site?”

Galloway and her team know what to do and, whenever a procedure is being performed, Galloway is on site the entire time. Turner and Snyder use the utmost care when performing their procedures, but if an accident does happen, Galloway is there at all times.

“That kind of goes back to our training, too,” Snyder said. “A large portion of our training is not only understanding how to best use these products, what they’re intended for, etc., but also complication avoidance and complication management. Like, it’s great to know what they’re used for and where to put them, but what happens if something goes wrong? You really need to understand how to manage it.”

Galloway’s team also works closely with other providers when needed, ensuring a smooth transition when one is needed. They don’t view other medically based aesthetics and wellness practices as competition; they believe they’re all on the same team — a team designed to make Casper patients look and feel their best. That’s what all three of these providers have built their careers on, and built their reputations on. Individually, they’ve built impressive names for themselves in a variety of medical-related fields. But together? Together they have the opportunity to give Casper residents a true gift. They can give them their smile back.

“I want my patients to walk away feeling like they were listened to, that their concerns were validated,” Galloway said. “I want to know that they trust me.”

Snyder agreed. Each and every day, he instills that trust with each patient he sees and each procedure he performs.

Turner shares the beliefs of both Galloway and Snyder. She wants her patients, their patients, to trust her and to trust their team, and she wants them to walk away from an appointment feeling better than how they walked into it. She said a big reason that can happen is because of the team Galloway has built, and the way they all work together.

“All of us take a lot of pride in being able to provide our Casper community with exceptional healthcare in wellness and aesthetics,” Turner said. “It’s all rooted in education, experience, and safety. I always say ‘speak less and listen more.’ And that’s what we try to do, every single day.”

PAID FOR BY JEN GALLOWAY FNP-C
This article is a promoted post.
