After his elimination on the current season of \u201cDancing with the Stars,\u201d actor and late night vet Andy Richter sounded off on President Donald Trump, with no fear of stepping on any toes. <\/p>\n
In a sitdown with Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, the longtime Conan O\u2019Brien sidekick and host of podcast \u201cThe Three Questions With Andy Richter\u201d was asked how he and his former on-air partner would heave treated Trump\u2019s crackdown on other late night hosts like Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert.<\/p>\n \u201cWe would be doing what everyone else of them is doing,\u201d Richter told EW, \u201cwhich is all gas and no brakes. Because f\u2011\u2011\u2011 that guy, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n ABC in September suspended Kimmel indefinitely<\/a> after backlash to the host\u2019s comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk\u2019s death<\/a>.<\/p>\n O\u2019Brien was among the many current or former late night hosts to voice support for Kimmel.<\/p>\n \u201cThe suspension of [Jimmy Kimmel] and the promise to silence other Late Night hosts for criticizing the administration should disturb everyone on the Right, Left, and Center,\u201d O\u2019Brien posted on social media platforms. \u201cIt\u2019s wrong and anyone with a conscience knows it\u2019s wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n Kimmel returned to air<\/a> just a few days later.<\/p>\n Richter, 59, appeared as sidekick to O\u2019Brien on several late night talk shows including \u201cLate Night,\u201d \u201cThe Tonight Show\u201d and \u201cConan.\u201d He has also starred on shows \u201cAndry Richter Controls the Universe,\u201d \u201cThe Mighty B!\u201d and \u201cAll Hail King Julien,\u201d a spinoff from the \u201cMadagascar\u201d animated film series in which he voices Mort.<\/p>\n Richter has also appeared in the films \u201cElf,\u201d \u201cTalladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,\u201d \u201cBlades of Glory,\u201d \u201cSemi-Pro\u201d and \u201cPootie Tang.\u201d<\/p>\n He told EW he was asked if Kimmel should \u201cback off\u201d from criticizing Trump during his suspension from his ABC show. \u201cI said, \u2018No, he should go harder,\u2019 he said. \u201cThere\u2019s no question.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Richter called Trump\u2019s response to the mockery \u201coutrageous\u201d and \u201cun-American,\u201d and an example of \u201ccowardice of somebody that can\u2019t take a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n He said it shows \u201cprofound insecurity,\u201d \u201cweakness,\u201d and \u201cchildishness\u201d and even poked at the structure of anyone\u2019s anatomy who would use the wheels of government to silence comedians. \u201cIt is just so indicative of, I wanna say small d—,\u201d he said. \u201cBut just weak, weak, weak, weak people. Weak, uncreative, not real bright people.\u201d<\/p>\n Read the full Entertainment Weekly piece.<\/a><\/p>\n Paired with professional dancer Emma Slater, Richter competed on season 34 of \u201cDancing with the Stars\u201d before they were eliminated during the quarterfinals, finishing in seventh place overall.<\/p>\n The Trump-Kimmel feud continued this week<\/a>, as the president posted on Truth Social urging ABC to remove him from television again.<\/p>\n \u201cWhy does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air?\u201d Trump wrote. \u201cGet the bum off the air!!!\u201d<\/p>\n Kimmel responded during his Thursday night monologue on \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf you\u2019re watching tonight \u2013 which I presume you are \u2013 how about this: I\u2019ll go when you go,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ll be a team.
