On November 19, she revealed on Instagram that she\u2019s now pursuing her PhD. In the video, she\u2019s seen speaking at the Indiana University Girls Leadership Symposium, an event hosted by the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington and attended by more than a hundred middle school girls.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m getting my PhD, currently, at Liberty University,\u201d Mitchell said. \u201cLike, when y\u2019all do homework, I\u2019m probably doing homework, too. At a coffee shop or somewhere. I don\u2019t know how good I\u2019ll do, but I won\u2019t quit. And because I won\u2019t, you won\u2019t either. If you look at yourself in the mirror and know what you bring to the table, as a teammate, as a team member\u2026 You have to go through it to see it through. You legit have to take some L\u2019s to get some W\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mitchell already earned her degree from Ohio State back in 2018. Then, in 2020, she completed her master\u2019s in Sports Administration from the University of Cincinnati, where she opened up about how deeply education was instilled in her from a young age, not just by her parents, but by her grandfather, who had passed away earlier that year.<\/p>\n

So, I\u2019m really excited to know that I did accomplish that even though he passed away [before I graduated].\u201d\u00a0Following that path, she\u2019s now chasing her ultimate goal: earning her PhD, something she\u2019s always said is \u201cimportant for me for life after basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Caitlin Clark playing only 13 games and Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson, and Aari McDonald all getting ruled out for the year, it was Kelsey Mitchell who shouldered most of the Fever\u2019s offense.<\/p>\n

Mitchell finished the regular season as the league\u2019s second-leading scorer with 890 points, averaging 20.2 points and 3.4 assists per game.
