If you\u2019re into eclectic homes, this might be the one for you.<\/p>\n

The home is a geodesic<\/a> dome, featuring curved exterior walls designed to withstand strong winds and improve energy efficiency, in a shape that blends durability with sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s gotten a lot of publicity and a lot of showings,\u201d said Caroline Garguilo of Keller Williams Realty Central Monmouth, the listing agent.<\/p>\n

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was listed<\/a> for sale more than a month ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt every open house we\u2019ve had over 25 families \u2014 that\u2019s really high traction,\u201d she said, adding that the home has also had about 50 private showings. \u201cSome people are interested and a lot of people are just curious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Geodesic homes are rare in New Jersey but a few can be found in towns like Stockton<\/a>, Island Heights<\/a>, Princeton<\/a> and one in Randolph<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The one currently on the market in Farmingdale is about 1,800 square feet and was built in 1980.<\/p>\n

The unique roof shape is achieved through a network of interlocking triangles.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a geometry teacher\u2019s dream,\u201d Garguilo said. <\/p>\n

The interior is open-concept with high ceilings in the foyer and living room. <\/p>\n

The recently updated kitchen is complete with three ovens, a feature from when a previous owner used the home as a baking space. The kitchen sits next to a formal dining room. The first floor also includes one bedroom and a full bathroom. <\/p>\n

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, another full bathroom and a balcony overlooking the living room. A third-floor loft with skylights could be used as a home office.<\/p>\n

It sits on a one-acre lot that backs to wetlands in a neighborhood known as Farmington Park. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a quiet street but it\u2019s located close to Route 34 so that makes it accessible to the Garden State Parkway and other major roads,\u201d Garguilo said. \u201cBut it feels like you\u2019re in your own peaceful location back there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The home was originally listed on Oct. 6 for $499,000. The price was reduced to $475,000 on Nov. 18.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had an offer that came in at that price, which is a good indicator of telling us what it\u2019s worth because that person is an active buyer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The deal didn\u2019t work out because that buyer wanted to build a detached garage, but the nearby wetlands would have made that process more complicated, Garguilo said. <\/p>\n

As of October, the year-to-date median sale price for a home in Farmingdale is $744,500, according to New Jersey Realtors.<\/p>\n

Another open house is scheduled for the property on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
