Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix following a technical infringement.<\/p>\n
Norris ended the race in second place to extend his title lead over Piastri, who classified in fourth.<\/p>\n
However, both cars were placed under investigation after the chequered flag when the skid planks were found to have excessive wear.<\/p>\n
McLaren visited the stewards at 23:45 local time where they heard from the officials and gave their own input.<\/p>\n
The planks were found to be below the minimum 9mm thickness required at the end of every grand prix.<\/p>\n
The double disqualification is the first time in McLaren’s history that both its cars have been thrown out of the classification.<\/p>\n
With both cars removed from the results, George Russell has been promoted to second place while Mercedes team-mate Kimi Antonelli has taken the final spot on the podium.<\/p>\n
