Matheus Cunha is facing a race to be fit to appear for Manchester United in Monday\u2019s game against Everton at Old Trafford. <\/p>\n
David Moyes is expected to make just one change against Manchester United<\/a>, with the Toffees attempting to make it consecutive Premier League<\/a> wins on Monday.<\/p>\n The Scot did suffer an injury blow of his own, however, when he revealed that Merlin Rohl has undergone surgery on a hernia issue<\/a>.<\/p>\n The midfielder has featured rarely since arriving from Freiburg in the summer, but his energy will be missed off the bench for the Blues.<\/p>\n Manchester United are the favourites to beat Everton<\/a>, with the Red Devils unbeaten in five Premier League games since recovering from a poor start.<\/p>\n Jarrad Branthwaite underwent surgery in October<\/a>, with the defender yet to make a single appearance for Everton<\/a> this season. <\/p>\n The 23-year-old, alongside Rohl<\/a> and Nathan Patterson<\/a>, is one of the notable absences for the Toffees for Monday\u2019s trip to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n Manchester United are expected to be without several key players, with Cunha at risk of joining them. <\/p>\n ESPN<\/a> reported on Saturday that the Brazilian picked up a \u201cminor knock\u201d in a training session, and now faces a race to make the squad for Monday. <\/p>\n The problem is not thought to be serious, but Ruben Amorim will be unlikely to want to risk further injury to the forward.<\/p>\n Manchester United are also set to be without summer signing Benjamin Sesko, after the striker picked up a knee injury in a draw with Tottenham before the international break.<\/p>\n Harry Maguire has also been ruled out of Manchester United\u2019s squad to face Everton, with Kobbie Mainoo<\/a>\u2018s involvement set to be decided in the build-up to the match. <\/p>\n Lisandro Martinez remains on the injury table after suffering a rupture to his anterior cruciate ligament in February.<\/p>\n Matheus Cunha would be key loss for Manchester United<\/p>\n Cunha got his Manchester United career off to a slow start after arriving in a \u00a362.5million deal from Wolves in the summer.<\/p>\n The Brazilian failed to score in his opening seven Premier League appearances, but has looked to become key for Amorim\u2019s side in recent weeks.<\/p>\n Matheus CunhaPremier League 2025-26Appearances10Goals1Chances created10Successful dribbles15Fouls won19Duels won48<\/p>\n Cunha\u2019s first goal came in a 4-2 victory over Brighton at the end of October, and the 26-year-old put in strong performances against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.<\/p>\n Everton will be glad to see the former Wolves man not in the starting line-up should he not be fit enough to start, with Cunha netting and assisting against the Toffees in the 2023-24 season.<\/p>\n Enjoyed this article?
