{"id":309416,"date":"2025-11-23T19:02:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T19:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/309416\/"},"modified":"2025-11-23T19:02:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T19:02:13","slug":"social-security-is-sending-out-payments-on-wednesday-nov-26-heres-who-gets-a-check","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/309416\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Security is sending out payments on Wednesday, Nov. 26: here\u2019s who gets a check"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">On Wednesday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/news\/seguridad-social\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/news\/seguridad-social\/\">Social Security<\/a> Administration (SSA) is due to issue checks to millions of Americans nationwide, in what is the final payment run on the agency\u2019s benefits-distribution schedule for November. <\/p>\n<p>Who\u2019s receiving a Social Security payment on Nov. 26?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Payments are to be sent out to certain recipients of retirement benefits, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or survivor pay.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Of the just over 70 million Americans who receive retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits, most are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A beneficiary\u2019s designated Wednesday is determined by the date of birth of the worker whose Social Security taxes have accumulated the benefits entitlement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">This Wednesday\u2019s payments cover birthdays between the 21st and 31st of each month. Next week\u2019s distribution date follows payment runs on the past two Wednesdays &#8211; November 12 and 19; together, they accounted for birthdays between the first and 20th of each month. <\/p>\n<p>At a glance &#8211; Nov. 2025\u2019s Wednesday payment schedule:Born on 1st-10th of month: Weds., Nov. 12Born on 11th-20th of month: Weds., Nov. 19Born on 21st-31st of month: Weds., Nov. 26<\/p>\n<p>Who doesn\u2019t get their benefits on a Wednesday in Nov.? Some long-term Social Security beneficiaries<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">If you began claiming retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits before May 1997, your check typically goes out on the third day of each month, regardless of your date of birth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">These long-term beneficiaries were therefore scheduled to be paid their November money on Monday, November 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The 7.5 million beneficiaries of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) scheme &#8211; a separate SSA program for low-income individuals who are over 65 or have a disability &#8211; are normally paid on the first day of each month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">However, as November began on a Saturday, this month\u2019s SSI payments were made early: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/social-security-is-sending-out-payments-today-friday-october-31-find-out-whos-receiving-a-check-f202510-n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/social-security-is-sending-out-payments-today-friday-october-31-find-out-whos-receiving-a-check-f202510-n\/\">on Friday, October 31<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dual beneficiaries (SSI + regular Social Security)<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Around 2.5 million people in the U.S. claim both SSI and one of the SSA\u2019s retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">These recipients were scheduled to get the former on October 31, followed by the latter on November 3.<\/p>\n<p>At a glance: non-Wednesday beneficiaries in Nov.:SSI recipients: Fri., Oct. 31Pre-May \u201997 Social Sec. beneficiaries: Mon., Nov. 3Dual recipients: SSI on Oct. 31; Social Sec. on Nov. 3<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">You can check out the SSA\u2019s complete benefits-distribution schedule for 2025 in this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/pubs\/EN-05-10031-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/pubs\/EN-05-10031-2025.pdf\">online calendar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>How much are Social Security retirement benefits?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Retired workers &#8211; who account for the majority of the U.S.\u2019s Social Security beneficiaries &#8211; get an average of $2,008.31 per month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\">per the latest figures released by the SSA<\/a>. Recipients of SSI payments get an average of $717.84 per month.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Benefits recipients to get COLA increase in 2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In October, the SSA <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/social-security-announces-benefit-increase-for-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/social-security-announces-benefit-increase-for-2026\/\">announced<\/a> that its recipients will benefit from a 2.8% increase in their monthly checks, beginning in January 2026. This comes as part of the agency\u2019s annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">For beneficiaries of Social Security retirement pay, this will lead to an average rise of $56 per month, the SSA says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The first recipients of the increased monthly checks will be beneficiaries of the SSI scheme, whose January payment is scheduled to be made on December 31. <\/p>\n<p>How does the Social Security Administration make benefits payments?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Almost all benefits checks are now issued electronically, as the SSA seeks to goes fully paperless. As of September 30, the agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/news\/en\/advocates\/2025-09-10.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/news\/en\/advocates\/2025-09-10.html\">says<\/a> beneficiaries are \u201cin most cases\u201d no longer being given the option of receiving a paper check in the mail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The SSA gives beneficiaries two ways of receiving electronic payments:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Beneficiaries can get their money by direct deposit, by providing the agency with their bank details.
