She publicly addressed and rejected his now-viral opinion that a squad of WNBA All-Stars might be defeated by an eighth-grade boys’ team. The Indiana Fever shooter acknowledged that she is aware of the Brooklyn Nets forward remarks during Show Me Something’s most recent episode. Cunningham’s comment came after NBA star Michael Porter Jr. made a number of divisive remarks about his belief that the world’s top women’s basketball players couldn’t compete with top high school men’s basketball players. After his remarks on this week’s “Ball in the Family” podcast regarding the NBA vs. WNBA dispute, Michael Porter Jr. became the focus of social media attention.

Sophie Cunningham’s unusually honest take adds a surprising new dimension to Michael Porter Jr.’s controversial claim

During the same podcast, Porter claimed that he could succeed in the WNBA as an eighth-grade version of himself. He used his sister’s University of Missouri squad to support his claim. Sophie Cunningham and other players who would later join the WNBA were on that team, which Porter claimed he totally dominated.Cunningham then addressed Porter’s remarks on her podcast, Show Me Something. She said that eighth-grade boys frequently have a physical advantage over adult ladies while speaking with West Wilson. Cunningham also wondered why the subject continues to come up. She then said: “So I would say that’s like probably true. I mean, it’s probably true. I don’t want to be like unrealistic or delusional, like men are just stronger, bigger, athletic. Like they just are a different build. And if so, if you put them up against females, well, yeah, they’re going to win.”Cunningham then said that Porter was taken out of context and his major point is rather clear. She added:”If you are a professional football player, basketball player, really any sport… If you’re in that elite level group, yeah, you should be able to beat the girls.. I’m not surprised by that. I just don’t get why it’s continuing to get brought up.”She further said that by the time future NBA players are in eighth grade, they are already well on their way to developing pro-ready bodies and skillsets. She suspects that Porter is right from the standpoint that a pro player could beat a high school girls’ player — and as the players age, the advantages for males remain clear, even if female players can “outshoot” or “pass the s— out of” the ball. She continued: “If women are saying, ‘He couldn’t beat them,’ yeah, he could. Any NBA star could beat a female in high school. … I don’t want to be unrealistic or delusional, Like, men are just stronger, bigger, athletic. They just are a different build. So if you put them up against females, yeah, they’re gonna win.”Nevertheless, of of now, after Soph’s comment, Michael Porter Jr. hasn’t addressed the remark as of yet. Also read: Are Michael Porter Jr. and Sophie Cunningham?
