Sweeten recalled drinking for the first time at her \u201cFull House\u201d co-star\u2019s wedding on the \u201cSkinny Confidential\u201d podcast. The Skinny Confidential\/YouTube<\/p>\n
Sweetin, 43, recalled grooving on the dance floor to \u201cYMCA\u201d at the reception, but couldn\u2019t remember anything after that.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was awful and it was ugly and it was embarrassing and my mother was horrified,\u201d Sweetin said. <\/p>\n
The actress said that the waiter kept pouring her more wine while her mom was seated at another table on the other side of the room.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, the first time I ever drank, I was like 14\u2026 and it was at Candace\u2019s wedding, and I was just a blackout drinker,\u201d she said. The Skinny Confidential\/YouTube<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a lot of red wine and the bathroom was very white. Not a good mix,\u201d she joked, describing herself as an \u201cidiot\u201d 14-year-old.<\/p>\n
The next morning, Sweetin felt \u201cawful\u201d and embarrassed, but also said that something \u201cclicked.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI was like, \u2018Ooooh, that was fun. You didn\u2019t give a s\u2013t about anything. Like, you just, you don\u2019t remember it,’\u201d she remembered thinking.<\/p>\n

By the time she was 15 or 16 years old, Sweetin became aware that she \u201cdrank and partied\u201d in a different way than her friends.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were like, \u2018Bro settle down,’\u201d she said of her friends, noting that she would then go and find new groups of people that could match her partying habits. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got to go find somebody that I can do these drugs with,\u201d she explained her way of thinking.<\/p>\n

Sweetin believes that she turned to substances because she struggled with ADHD and wanted to make her \u201cbrain work better.\u201d<\/p>\n
The former child star entered treatment for addiction in her 20s and relapsed a few times \u2014\u00a0but doesn\u2019t blame her fame for her struggle. <\/p>\n
\u201cI always say, I would have struggled with addiction issues regardless of being on TV or not,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd to be fair, that gave me some of the ability to be able to find treatment and find help in ways that I might not have had I not worked as a child,\u201d Sweetin continued. \u201cBut it\u2019s very hard [when] you have to make all your mistakes publicly.\u201d <\/p>\n
Sweetin \u2014 who shares daughters Zoie, 17, and Beatrix, 14, with ex-husband Cody Herpin \u2014 found sobriety after having kids. <\/p>\n
