For years, Mike \u2018Coach K\u2019 Krzyzewski was an absolute institution in college basketball<\/a>, and his work with Team USA also made him one of the most respected figures in the sport.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why it was shocking and disappointing to hear that he was finally ready to ride into the sunset. Back in 2021, even his biggest rival, UNC legend Roy Williams tipped his hat to him:<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody knows it\u2019s coming but Mike\u2019s been fantastic for the game of basketball,\u201d Williams said, per Sportskeeda. \u201cHe\u2019s been fantastic for college basketball and he\u2019s been fantastic for the ACC. The greatest rivalry in sports: Duke-North Carolina basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roy Williams mocked Coach K<\/p>\n

Of course, he wasn\u2019t going to stop there. As the representative of his lifelong rivals, he was also going to take some friendly shots at his biggest competitor, mocking him for not playing golf:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been a good friend. He\u2019s been a guy I\u2019ve respected a great deal. He made everybody bring their A-game for years and years and years,\u201d he said. \u201cThe only thing wrong with Mike Krzyzewski is he doesn\u2019t play golf, and that\u2019s the only thing wrong with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been years since Coach K decided to call it a career and just sit back. Maybe, he\u2019s finally had more than enough time to work on his golf swing and get back at Williams. <\/p>\n
