That means Oklahoma would host a first-round playoff game if the season were to end this week. But OU still has work to do, with one final regular-season game against LSU on Saturday. <\/p>\n<p>It does appear, though, that if the Sooners can beat the Tigers, they will get into the 12-team bracket. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a blessing to have an opportunity to do something like this,\u201d quarterback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/john-mateer-63401\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">John Mateer<\/a> said on Monday. \u201cThis is something you\u2019ve dreamed of, or something I\u2019ve dreamed of my whole life. Having the perspective to see the opportunity is great. But also understanding it\u2019s another game. I don\u2019t mean that, it\u2019s the most important game because it\u2019s the game we have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OU has one of the most impressive resumes in the country this season. It\u2019s beaten five AP-ranked teams, which is more than any other school. It also has three wins over current CFP-ranked teams \u2014 Alabama, Tennessee and Michigan. And its only losses are also to ranked teams in Ole Miss and Texas. <\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why the Sooners appear to control their own destiny. All they need is one more win at home. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing into our last regular-season game here at home, we all know what\u2019s on the line this weekend,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zKtgjS2pH1M&amp;t=2s\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OU coach Brent Venables said.<\/a> \u201cI just want to give a shoutout to our fans, to make it an amazing day\u2014from the Walk of Champions all the way to the warmups to the first third down in-game\u2014they can really have a great, great impact, and I expect them to be at their best like I expect our team to be at our best as well.
