All 60 Dezeen Awards<\/a> 2025 winners were announced at a ceremony in central London yesterday evening.<\/p>\n

The winners were revealed at a party at Exhibition White City attended by shortlisted studios from across the world, as well as past and present Dezeen Awards judges<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The winning projects have been selected from more than 4,300 entries from 89 countries.<\/p>\n

The 49 project category winners<\/a> were shortlisted for the architecture, interiors, design and sustainability project of the year awards. These projects went head to head to win the overall project of the year awards.<\/p>\n

The six Designers of the Year<\/a> and the Bentley Lighthouse Award<\/a> winner were also announced at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

\"UniversityHerzog & de Meuron won Dezeen Awards 2025 architecture project of the year<\/p>\n

Architecture<\/p>\n

University Children’s Hospital Zurich<\/a> by Herzog & de Meuron<\/a> won the prestigious architecture project of the year award, sponsored by Programa<\/a>. It was also named leisure and wellness project of the year.<\/p>\n

“This is a project that should be celebrated, and celebrated widely,” said the architecture master jury.<\/p>\n

“It is an exemplary building, in a sector where exemplary buildings are rare but needed more than almost any other. This is what quality architecture should strive for,” they added.<\/p>\n

The winning project of the year was up against category winners including a mass-timber office in Finland, a performing arts centre using earth bricks in Uganda and a restored fish and seafood hall in Sweden.<\/p>\n

A school framed by bright green steel walkways and a house renovation using corrugated metal for an industrial aesthetic were also amongst the category winners.<\/p>\n

\"SymbolplusSymbolplus won Dezeen Awards 2025 interiors project of the year<\/p>\n

Interiors<\/p>\n

Symbolplus Office by Japanese studio Symbolplus<\/a> won the prestigious interiors project of the year award, sponsored by Gaggenau<\/a>. It was also named workplace interior (small) project of the year, sponsored by Framery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The interiors master jury praised the office space in Tokyo for being “so on point in terms of how we want to live and what we should create \u2013 both in our use of materials and our understanding of context.”<\/p>\n

“It’s a fantastic example of how a contemporary interior can be sustainable and respect the past, but also transport you to another world. It’s authentic yet futuristic, a perfect merging of two worlds,” they added.<\/p>\n

The winning project of the year was up against category winners including a knife gallery also in Tokyo, a workplace championing British crafts in London and a skatepark in a glass box in central Shanghai.<\/p>\n

\"J39.5AtMa won Dezeen Awards 2025 design project of the year<\/p>\n

Design<\/p>\n

J39.5 by AtMa<\/a> won the prestigious design project of the year award and was also named collectible design of the year.<\/p>\n

According to the design master jury, J39.5 represents “an act of rebellion against the constant churn of newness in our industry; a sort of anti-design statement.”<\/p>\n

“This body of work conveys the handwriting of the maker and these low-fi creations celebrate the individual DIY path that the creator pursued,” they said.<\/p>\n

“Each object in this body of work stretches expected seating typologies away from the original chair from which they are constructed.”<\/p>\n

J39.5 was up against designs that included a table lamp that comes in an A4-size envelope, ceramic basins that can double as barbecues and a bike helmet that flattens to become thinner than a laptop.<\/p>\n

\"HydroHydro won Dezeen Awards 2025 sustainability project of the year<\/p>\n

Sustainability<\/p>\n

Hydro CIRCAL 100R<\/a> by Hydro<\/a> won the prestigious sustainable project of the year award and was also named material innovation of the year.<\/p>\n

The sustainability master jury described Hydro CIRCAL 100R as “a truly circular material of the future, making good on its promise of infinite recyclability with no waste.”<\/p>\n

“Its impact is sure to be felt far beyond the world of design and architecture, offering a rare glimpse of not just hope but real progress,” they added.<\/p>\n

The winning material was competing against projects that included a wellbeing retreat in Indonesia, buildable headphones made for children and a heritage centre pioneering bio-based interior solutions.<\/p>\n

\"\"MAD won Dezeen Awards 2025 architect of the year<\/p>\n

Designers of the Year<\/p>\n

MAD<\/a> took home the architect of the year award, with Tamil Nadu-based Earthscape Studio<\/a> named emerging architect of the year.<\/p>\n

Interior designer of the year was awarded to Milan-based practice Dimore Studio<\/a>, and Ukrainian studio Mirzoyan<\/a> was crowned emerging interior designer of the year.<\/p>\n

London-based practice Studio Toogood<\/a> won designer of the year, with Andu Masebo<\/a> named emerging designer of the year.<\/p>\n

Jo Barnard<\/p>\n

Jo Barnard<\/a> won the Bentley Lighthouse Award 2025.<\/p>\n

Barnard is the founder of London-based design agency Morrama<\/a>, whose ethos centres on user-focused design with a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n

The master jury noted Barnard’s top-down approach to driving sustainable change. “Sustainability has to be driven by brands,” they explained, “and [Jo] Barnard challenges her clients to do exactly that.”<\/p>\n

Moreover, the jury praised Barnard’s commitment to accessibility and her ability to bring topics such as circularity into mainstream conversation.<\/p>\n

“She advocates for circularity, and her work shifts this issue towards the mainstream by creating tangible designs such as refillable products and making them accessible.”<\/p>\n

“Together with her team at Morrama, she is putting sustainable choices into the hands of everyday users by shifting consumer mindset through design.”<\/p>\n
