But his eventual cost proved to be beyond their desired price range.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-4\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"73\">&#8220;It\u2019s worth noting that Boston also planned to pursue Nets center Day\u2019Ron Sharpe in free agency, league sources told HoopsHype,&#8221; Scotto writes. &#8220;The Celtics would\u2019ve been limited to only a minimum offer for Sharpe, but were prepared to offer a chance to compete for the starting center spot this season.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>Sharpe&#8217;s Eventual Contract<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"79\">Sharpe ultimately inked a two-season, $12.5 million to stay with the Nets. Given that he was merely a restricted free agent, Brooklyn would have had an opportunity to match any contract offer tendered his way.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7c\">Sharpe continues to perform well in a backup role behind Nic Claxton.
