{"id":319091,"date":"2025-11-28T18:38:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T18:38:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/319091\/"},"modified":"2025-11-28T18:38:06","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T18:38:06","slug":"nevada-hospital-safety-grades-vary-by-region-in-new-leapfrog-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/319091\/","title":{"rendered":"Nevada hospital safety grades vary by region in new Leapfrog report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nevada\u2019s fall 2025 hospital safety grades show a clear divide between the northern and southern parts of the state, according to new ratings from The Leapfrog Group.<\/p>\n<p>The biannual grades evaluate hospitals on preventable harm, including infections, medical errors and injuries, using national data and up to 32 safety measures.<\/p>\n<p>This cycle, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hospitalsafetygrade.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">18 Nevada hospitals received grades<\/a> ranging from A to C, with two additional hospitals not graded.<\/p>\n<p>Facilities in the Reno\u2013Sparks region scored more evenly, while the Las Vegas area had a wider range of performance, including the majority of the state\u2019s lowest marks.<\/p>\n<p>How did Northern Nevada hospitals rank for safety in 2025?<\/p>\n<p>Northern Nevada reported one C grade this cycle. The grading system includes scores of A, B, C, D and F. No Nevada hospitals received D or F grades this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Two hospitals earned A grades:<\/p>\n<p>Northern Nevada Medical Center, SparksSaint Mary\u2019s Regional Medical Center, Reno<\/p>\n<p>Two hospitals received B grades:<\/p>\n<p>Renown Regional Medical CenterRenown South Meadows Medical Center<\/p>\n<p>One area hospital received a C grade, though it wasn&#8217;t in Reno-Sparks:<\/p>\n<p>Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center<\/p>\n<p>Sierra Medical Center in Reno was listed as not graded.<\/p>\n<p>How did Southern Nevada hospitals rank for safety in 2025?<\/p>\n<p>Southern Nevada recorded five A grades, three Bs and five Cs.<\/p>\n<p>99th Medical Group Nellis Air Force Base \u2014 AMountainView Hospital \u2014 ANorth Vista Hospital \u2014 ASouthern Hills Hospital and Medical Center \u2014 AValley Hospital Medical Center \u2014 AHenderson Hospital \u2014 BSt. Rose Dominican \u2013 Siena Campus \u2014 BSummerlin Hospital Medical Center \u2014 BCentennial Hills Hospital Medical Center \u2014 CSpring Valley Hospital Medical Center \u2014 CSt. Rose Dominican \u2013 San Martin Campus \u2014 CSunrise Hospital and Medical Center \u2014 CUniversity Medical Center \u2014 C<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the statewide breakdown:<\/p>\n<p>A: 7 hospitalsB: 5 hospitalsC: 6 hospitals<\/p>\n<p>Two hospitals were not graded: Sierra Medical Center, 6500 Longley Lane, Reno; Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital, Elko.<\/p>\n<p>One top national hospital system operates in Nevada<\/p>\n<p>Nevada has one hospital operated by any of the national health systems, networks of health care facilities owned or managed under a single parent organization, that earned the highest numbers of A grades in Leapfrog\u2019s fall analysis. That system is Prime Healthcare Services, which owns Saint Mary\u2019s Regional Medical Center in Reno, an A-rated facility.<\/p>\n<p>Nationally, Leapfrog found that 90% of hospitals receiving grades this cycle are part of a health system, and 94% of A hospitals belong to one.
