The Cranberries are feeling \u201coverwhelmed\u201d after their recent accomplishments have reignited the band\u2019s popularity.<\/p>\n
The Irish band released<\/a> their 1995 \u201cMTV Unplugged\u201d concert as an album for the first time earlier this month<\/a>, which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Vinyl chart. <\/p>\n In addition to the project\u2019s release, The Cranberries were honored<\/a> with the Rolling Stone UK Icon Award last week<\/a>. The band took a moment to reflect on these milestones in an Instagram post<\/a> on Wednesday, Nov. 26.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been a moving week… We\u2019re overwhelmed that our 1994 MTV Unplugged session, released for the first time, has reached #8 on the Billboard Vinyl Chart,\u201d The Cranberries wrote the post<\/a>. \u201cTo then be honored with the Rolling Stone UK Icon Award truly shows how far our music has traveled from its beginnings.\u201d<\/p>\n The band\u2019s surviving members added that they were amazed at how \u201cthe songs continue to find new life.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe living legacy of our music was on full display as Noel [Hogan] was joined by Royel Otis to perform \u2018Linger\u2019 \u2014 a song that has recently resonated with so many new listeners,\u201d the post continued. \u201cFrom our studio sessions in the 90s to the way you now find and create anew with these songs, it\u2019s your connection that gives this music its lasting purpose. We have no doubt Dolores [O\u2019Riordan] would be smiling down on it all.\u201d<\/p>\n The Cranberries became one of the biggest international acts of the \u201890s with hits such as \u201cLinger,\u201d \u201cZombie,\u201d \u201cDreams,\u201d \u201cWhen You\u2019re Gone\u201d and \u201cOde to My Family.\u201d The acoustic MTV concert featured \u201cLinger,\u201d \u201cZombie\u201d and fan favorites like \u201cFree to Decide,\u201d \u201cYesterday\u2019s Gone,\u201d and \u201cNo Need to Argue.\u201d<\/p>\n The Cranberries\u2019 music continues to be popular today. The group has 3.93 million subscribers on YouTube<\/a> and averages roughly 28 million monthly listeners on Spotify. \u201cLinger\u201d and \u201cZombie\u201d each have more than a billion streams on the platform.<\/p>\n O\u2019Riordan died<\/a> from drowning due to alcohol intoxication in January 2018 at age 46. The Cranberries released one more album, \u201cIn the End,\u201d in 2019 before disbanding. The record featured O\u2019Riordan\u2019s vocals and was nominated<\/a> for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.<\/p>\n In 2022, Noel Hogan formed The Puro with Brazilian singer Mell Peck. Noel\u2019s brother Mike Hogan manages the historic Rose Morris guitar shop in London. Lawler released a solo album in 2021 and now composes music for films.<\/p>\n
