The first four episodes of the fifth and final season of \u201cStranger Things\u201d were released Wednesday night and effectively set up the endgame for the back half of the season.<\/p>\n

Reaction has been divided over the episodes that did little to offer much in the way of answers regarding the series-long mysteries, but don\u2019t worry, according to the creators, they\u2019re coming.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Deadline<\/a>, the Duffer Brothers say the three-episode second \u2018volume\u2019 launching on Christmas Day will basically solve the remaining mysteries about the Upside Down before a likely more action-centric and closure-themed finale:<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially as we get into Volume 2, we start to answer more and more why Will was kidnapped and how it ties in with Holly and all of this. Everything sort of comes full circle. That really is a Volume 2 thing, where we really get into the Upside Down, and we explain what it is. Again, this is something that has been planned for 10 years now, and it just now, obviously, is the time to reveal it.\u201d<\/p>\n

They also say they deliberately didn\u2019t set out to try and recreate that \u2018lightning in a bottle\u2019 style moment they had in the fourth season with the use of \u201cRunning Up That Hill\u201d at the end of an episode. Matt Duffer says:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe decided very early on, let\u2019s not chase that and try to do it again. This is just going to seem like a watered-down version of it or diminishing returns, but there are some really cool, but very different musical moments in Volume 2. I guess I can say that. And in the finale.\u201d<\/p>\n

Max was the key character in that scene, and she will play a big part in the next block of episodes with Vecna actor Jamie Campbell Bower telling the outlet that \u201cthere is a huge moment that happens later on in the story, and she is 100% a catalyst for something.\u201d That episode is expected to be the show\u2019s sixth one \u2018Escape From Camazotz\u2019 which will serve as the middle of the three episodes at Christmas.<\/p>\n
