Kids, I\u2019m going to tell you a story… the story of how \u201cHow I Met Your Mother\u201d<\/a> is leaving Netflix<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n The beloved sitcom\u2019s last day on Netflix is Tuesday, Dec. 2.<\/p>\n Set in New York City, \u201cHow I Met Your Mother\u201d follows Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) as he tells his children the extensive, often meandering tale of how he eventually met their mother. <\/p>\n This involves countless adventures and MacLaren\u2019s Pub hangouts with his four best friends: Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).<\/p>\n The series premiered on CBS in 2005 and ran for nine seasons, airing its last episode in 2014. Widely considered one of CBS\u2019s biggest hits, the show won 29 awards out of 102 nominations. It also inspired the Hulu spinoff series \u201cHow I Met Your Father,\u201d which ran for two seasons starting in 2022 before being canceled.<\/p>\n This past September marked 20 years since \u201cHIMYM\u201d first premiered. Radnor paid tribute to the special anniversary on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cApparently (astonishingly) \u2018How I Met Your Mother\u2019 premiered twenty years ago today. Here are some pics from the early years,\u201d Radnor wrote alongside a carousel of photos.<\/p>\n \u201cI cannot overstate how much I\u2019m enjoying rewatching the show, strolling down memory lane, and breaking down each episode,\u201d he said, referring to his podcast, \u201cHow We Made Your Mother<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe made a show about a man looking back on a pivotal time in his life and the life of his dearest friends. And now all these years later we\u2019re looking back on this pivotal time in our own lives (when we were making a show about a pivotal time in these characters\u2019 lives\u2026),\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s been such a treat to fully appreciate what a brilliant, funny, touching show I was a part of.\u201d <\/p>\n The sitcom arrived on Netflix in June 2024. It\u2019s unclear why it is leaving. Fortunately for fans, \u201cHIMYM\u201d can still be streamed on Hulu<\/a>.<\/p>\n
