The studio also announced plans to bring \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/top-gun\/\" id=\"auto-tag_top-gun\" data-tag=\"top-gun\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Top Gun<\/a>\u201d back to the big screen on May 13, 2026, in honor of its 40th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tParamount is keeping the details for its \u201cTMNT\u201d and \u201cSonic\u201d films under wraps. All that\u2019s confirmed is producer Neal H. Moritz, best known as the brains behind the successful \u201cSonic the Hedgehog\u201d trilogy, is also behind the new \u201cNinja Turtles\u201d adventure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u201d will be a <a data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-last-ronin-scrapped-1236587325\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-last-ronin-scrapped-1236587325\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">family friendly live-action\/CG animation hybrid<\/a> take on the turtle brothers known as Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo. It will be the first live-action \u201cTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles\u201d since 2016\u2019s theatrical disappointment \u201cOut of the Shadows.\u201d Paramount since turned to animation with 2023\u2019s modestly successful \u201cTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,\u201d which was written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. \u201cMutant Mayhem 2\u201d is set to debut on Sept. 17, 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe upcoming \u201cSonic\u201d entry, based on the Sega video game franchise, is separate from \u201cSonic the Hedgehog 4,\u201d which is slated for March 19, 2027. \u201cSonic\u201d has become a valuable property for Paramount, with the first three installments\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/box-office\/box-office-mufasa-triumphs-over-sonic-3-1236265686\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/box-office\/box-office-mufasa-triumphs-over-sonic-3-1236265686\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">collectively surpassing $1 billion worldwide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cTop Gun,\u201d directed by Tony Scott and starring Tom Cruise, was released in 1986 and became the highest grossing film of that year with $357.4 million. The story follows Lt. Pete \u201cMaverick\u201d Mitchell, a hotshot flier who is competing to become the top fighter pilot.
