BOSTON \u2014 We\u2019re on a WEATHER ALERT from the Boston 25 Weather Team<\/a> due to winter storm warnings, watches, and advisories<\/a> in our area.<\/p>\n

\u201cTravel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes,\u201d the National Weather Service wrote in a storm advisory.<\/p>\n

On Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service upgraded posted watches to warnings in some areas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

New winter storm warning <\/p>\n

In a late afternoon update on Monday, Boston 25 Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz updated his expected snowfall totals because the storm was \u201ctrending later and milder.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Lemanowicz\u2019s latest snow map, the best chance for accumulation will be at elevations and points to the north, with some areas in New Hampshire getting upwards of 6-9 inches. <\/p>\n

There is a possibility for a coating of snow in Boston but it won\u2019t be until the tailend of the storm.<\/p>\n

The Boston 25 Weather Team initially called for snow with totals in the range of 3 to 7 inches<\/a> for interior towns north and west of I-495. Those areas will now likely see 1-3 inches.<\/p>\n

Northern Massachusetts towns along the New Hampshire and Vermont borders could see 3-7 inches of snow, while northern New England is also in for up to 7 inches.<\/p>\n

The South Shore, South Coast, and Cape Cod and the Islands will likely see just plain rain due to warmer temperatures.<\/p>\n

Travel delays aren\u2019t expected during the early morning commute, but road conditions are expected to deteriorate starting midmorning through the Tuesday evening commute.<\/p>\n
