A California homeowner has been desperately trying to evict an unwanted guest from his property \u2014 a 500-pound black bear that\u2019s moved into the crawl space beneath his house.<\/p>\n
Ken Johnson, of Altadena, became suspicious of a furry squatter when he noticed trash cans knocked over and bricks dislodged around his property. So, he set up motion-detecting surveillance cameras to alert him of the creature\u2019s every move \u2014 and catch the culprit in the act.<\/p>\n

The footage revealed the uninvited guest was actually a hulking black bear, which squeezed its body into the 2.5-by-2.5-foot crawl space \u2014 coming and going as it pleased.<\/p>\n
The bear was also caught going down the driveway, through garbage bins, and tearing out bricks. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI see wildlife here all the time, but I\u2019ve never had my crawl space torn up,\u201d Johnson told The Post on Monday.<\/p>\n
He first noticed his crawl space was destroyed in June and put a camera there, but didn\u2019t know the culprit was a bear until last Tuesday.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, the beastly bruin briefly emerged from his comfy new digs and popped out again Sunday night for about 20 minutes, Johnson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s scary when I don\u2019t know where it is,\u201d said Johnson, who was met with growling and hissing sounds on Friday when he was trying to change the batteries on the camera.<\/p>\n
To make matters worse, Johnson is stuck in a bureaucratic limbo. He contacted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, but \u201call I did was get the run around to go to a website to file a report about the bear online.\u201d <\/p>\n

Johnson filed the report Monday morning. <\/p>\n
\u201cI hope they can coax it out or shoot it with a tranquilizer and haul it away, but I don\u2019t see that happening,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife did not immediately return a message seeking comment.<\/p>\n
Johnson anticipates having to take matters into his own hands \u2014 by using sweet dinner rolls to lure out the animal and then bear-proofing the crawl space with pepper spray-covered sandbags.<\/p>\n
